Search Engine Spidering

Hi,

Is this a silly question, but how long does it normally take between a new website being uploaded and it first appearing in a search engine?

This is my very first site and I uploaded it last week, and I know that Google hasn't even cached it yet.

How long do these things take?

Thanks

Mandy

Is anyone else linking to it? Have you submitted the site to google?

Surfn 2005-12-13 01:38 PM

My sites normally take 24-48 hours to get indexed.

I don't submit them to any SE's. I normally do have 4-6 links to some of my other sites.

Mandy,
if you have some good links from other sites to your site the google spider should crawl your site within a few days. To get the first hits from Google you will have to wait 1 up to 3 weeks (just my experience).
Your site will be in the google index finally after the next google update.
www.webmasterworld.com is a good place for SE questions. |santa|

Surfn, do you mean indexed or crawled by googlebot? If indexed send me a PM and share your secret |bow|
