Good Saturday Morning

Up early again...damn. And, in a foul mood
Still, good morning

Cleo 2003-11-29 07:41 AM

Good Morning World. :)

I went to bed at like 9 last night after an exhausting stressed out day where just about everything that could go wrong did.

So Jim since you mentioned it why are you in a foul mood?

I'm going to go to the gym after I wake up and work off some stress. I always feel better more relaxed after a good workout.

34 deg & light snow - ALL DAY - yipee :)

Watched Scarface last night for the 1st time in about 15 years - still an awesome movie.

Oh yeah - got my Cable Box DVR the other day & it SUCKS RANCID DONKEY ASS. I wish I had a copy of the letter I typed up & sent to the cable company thru their website - long story short I told them the TiVo would be hooked back up this weekend.

Jim 2003-11-29 08:38 AM

Greenie, you are probably still using windows 95, aren't you?
You just stick to having to watch what you are recording... :)

Greenguy 2003-11-29 09:08 AM

You know, I was wondering why none of the gif's on the board moved, then I found out I had Netscape 1.0 as my browser :)

Here's the major problem (and keep in mind that this is the wife's DVR & not my personal one - LOL)

When we got the machine, we put in to record all episodes of "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy"

Yesterday, I put in to record "The Handler" on CBS (Friday's at 10) as well as all episodes of "20/20" on ABC - all 3 of these programs are on Friday's @ 10. As you know, Queer Eye & 20/20 are on more then 1 once a week, so when the conflict comes up & tells me I can't record 3 things at once, I choose to not record Queer Eye (because it's on like 10 times a week anyway) Well, the DVR then removes ALL the scheduled recordings of Queer Eye - seems there's not an option to just cancel one episode of a program :(

TiVo is much better :)

Jim 2003-11-29 09:27 AM

Try very hard to get off of watching "Queer eye for the straight guy" and you should be fine :)

Happy Saturday everyone... Let me start off by saying Im in NJ & all I ant to do is go right the fuck back home. Welcome to my nightmare:

1) Worst flight of my life last night actually watched as our plane went side ways over and over in mid-air last night coming into Atlantic City Airport.
2) Landed to the worst rain possible, and did I mention wind? Shithole.
3) Get to Father In Laws, and my 2 year old will take a shot at sleeping in a Bed for her first time, and sadly that bed is in our room. That ordeal goes on till around 12am (her normal bedtime is 7:30pm every night!!!!!!)
4) Cant get a room in Atlantic City for Saturday night, finally got one and not where I wanted it to be.
5) Wife's high school reunion tonight, it's colder than frozen shit, windy like you have no idea, I dont want to get dressed up, GRRRRRRRRR!!!

Can I click my heels twice and be back in Florida now?

P/s) Daughter is a nightmare this morning because she didnt get enough sleep last night.

p.s 2/ I miss my office chair.

Greenguy, I just got my tivo and a yrs free service from a sportspicks win a few weeks back. Hadnt talked to anyone who had used it around here. Really that much better than what cable offers?

Greenguy 2003-11-29 12:03 PM

The ONLY good thing about the cable DVR's is that you can record 2 things at once - the Tivo's that run off of cable boxes can only record one show at a time.

Of course, using my theory above, at least I'd get to see the shows that I put in to record :)

We have 2 TiVo's anyway, so if there were 2 things on at once, we'd put one on the main TV & one in the bedroom.

Greenguy 2003-11-29 12:08 PM

Hey John welcome to New Jersey :)

Extreme John 2003-11-29 05:04 PM

I think I might have to buy another Tivo so I can check out the networking, think Ill buy the 80hr gimmick though so I can tape on high quality without being worried.

As for MML welcoming me to NJ, thank you, only a few hours before I hit Atlantic City baby!!! Drunk John will be in full effect after this %$#@ reunion :)

Greenguy 2003-11-29 05:52 PM

We got a new 80 hours TiVo today (seeing as we promised the old TiVo to my step-daughter) It's actually 96 hours of basic recording, which is nice.

The option for connecting 2 TiVo's together is a little difficult - you have to have them both hooked up to a broadband modem (cable, dsl, etc) & seeing as my house is not wired properly, I'd have cords running all over the damn place - LOL

Ok another question from a newbie to tivo....I got the 80 hour machine. What do you mean by it records 96 hours? Are there different quality modes you can set? (Expecting at any time for someone to say stop being lazy and go open the damn box so you can read the info) LOL

Greenguy 2003-11-30 08:50 AM

Somewhere in the settings you can set the default recording quality - there's 4 different settings, Basic giving you 92 or 96 hours :)

I'm used to watching things on the Basic setting as like I said, we have 2 of the older 30 hour TiVo's already.

Extreme John 2003-11-30 10:50 PM

I hate the lower quality which is the main reason Im going to buy an 80 hr one so I can record on a much higher quality.

I agree GG the wiring can be a real issue but I could have sworn I read somewhere you can use wireless high speed connections... Ill look into that.
