Greenguy's stats

It would be great to be able to see revshare sponsors listed in the category listings alongside the PPS programs. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the service Greenguy does by publishing his stats and they are very useful when looking for new sponsors in niches.

Now before you label me a "good for nothing rabble-raising hippy" for suggesting such radical and silly nonsense, I have been moving away from the PPS programs heavily over the last 6 months, and its my experience that the best sites in most niches are in the smaller revshare programs. I would love to see some of them thrown up aswell and i am sure there are many others sick of the large PPS programs with crappy sites who would love to see them :)

Oh and while its likely I am already unpopular with my outlandish suggestions ..... many of the programs listed in the stats count clicks in very strange ways making it hard to compare them. Is there any way comments could be added at least .... regarding how they count clicks ... eg its not fair to compare a sponsor who counts join page hits to one that counts 1st page ones.

Tracking revshare stats is far more complicated due to the rebills.

LB 2005-12-26 06:42 PM

Then surely you could just leave the 'revenue per click' info out and just include the ratio. I am pretty sure almost all revshare proggys count 1st page uniques.

Toby 2005-12-26 06:57 PM

Just how do you propose to include the rebills in the 'revenue per click', and make it meaningful in a short two or three month time frame?

As I just mentioned, just having the signup ratios would be better than nothing.

I agree that its next to impossible to track rebills over such a short period of time.

Toby 2005-12-26 07:17 PM

Signup ratios by themselves can be pretty deceptive when ranking revshare programs. The program with the best signup ratio may have a lousy rebill percentage, and vice versa.

I agree, it would be nice to have those stats, but the time necessary to compile them in a meaningful way would be prohibitive.

Actually, statstremote already does that for me. Even before there's a new signup for a given time period, statsremote gives me a $/click amount based on the $ value of rebills and the number of clicks (raw and unique). I'd imagine it may get a bit more hairy if you've got the volume that GG has though :)

Trev 2005-12-26 07:21 PM

Site A converts at 1:200, site B at 1:400.

but...
site A, is 50% of $20. site B is, 60% of $35.
Site A rebills at 1 in 10, site b rebills at 4 in 10.

Does Site A still look twice as good as Site B? There is just way to many varibles to make a good and fair list without spending a shitload of time on it.

or... what Toby said.

Good points.

However i think that most people use greenguy's stats to check out new sponsors (well I do), they would take that into account that when they click through. Just having an idea of the ratio greenguy gets for the sites would be a great starting point when choosing a sponsor.

But I see what you are saying. I could almost be forgiven for asuming this discussion has taken place before ? ;)

I also use StatsRemote. It doesn't specify in the documentation how that $$$/click figure is computed. It appears that it is simply taking the total $$$ for the specified time frame (new sales, trials and rebills) and dividing by clicks. This number would only be accurate if initial sales and rebills were relatively steady over an extended period. In the short term, monthly fluctuations would be heavily influenced by rebills from initial sales outside the specified time period. i.e. if the month immediately prior to the specified time period had unusually large number of initial sales, then there would be an unusually high number of first month rebills included, without the associated new sales.

I'm not saying that the short term numbers are totally meaningless, but they'd be best used for comparison month to month rather than as a way to rank individual programs.

The only way I see it possible is to compile yearly stats for revshare.

Maybe a ratio of somekind but then a money earned per sale. Money earned per sale would give a good indication on whether the sites rebill in the long run usually.

I look at a couple of my revshare sponsors and I see a problem with this already. A sponsor I promote quite a bit (doubled in sales since about Sept) I am going to make about 50 sales with this month so the money earned per sale is $23 right now for the year. While a sponsor I have not promoted much lately and will have maybe 12 sales this month (way more rebills) is at $30 per sale overall for the year thanks to less sales the past several months and the rebills really affecting the bottom line overall.

Revshare is a bitch to compare. :(
