Nice snail mail from AVN today (January 11th)
 

Today, January 11th, 2006... I received my "full seminar program inside" mail that had a nice full size deal showing all the seminars, and a nice letter saying that they are looking forward to a good show.

Ummm... the show has been OVER for 4 days now.

Another $1 or $2 per badge spent for no reason.

Phoneix is lovely in March and Montreal is a beautiful city. I still need one more local show to visit all the board folks. Vegas just has too many unrelated things going on.

Moby, that is why I find that the Miami show is in fact better than the Vegas show from a stand point of "getting things done" and meeting people. I know that August in Florida is like the 7th inner ring of hell, but the distractions are less, people tend to be all in the same place, and stuff is pretty darn casual - a good deal. Last year I went to vegas for the show and spent most of my time in the poker room, and the rest of the time trying to hook up with even a few people, spread out over the whole vegas strip. Not very functional.

Pheonix is nice, from what I have been told, something I am considering. Cybernet in San Diego is a very good deal too, especially because many of the west coast part of the business are present. Those two are on my list of "possibles" this year.

I got that today too Alex. Idiotic!! And I'll get another tomorrow I bet with the other company name I registered under once upon a time. I love getting this mail to my house with the PORN URLs on the outside of the envelope.

Vegas is the main reason I go - I skipped Miami because it's too hot & too expensive (and I know a lot of people that did the same thing)

They'll never please everyone as far as the locations & time of the year, but I think they are making a step in the right direction moving Vegas to March & away from AEE & CES (which we all stated was a big problem before & during the show)

For some odd reason I really like the Miami show (it's actually in Hollywood) but I did miss it last year. I am planing on going this year.

I\ve heard they've reconsidered moving it to March and will try to keep it in January but away from aee and ces...

They're going to have an issue no matter what. Making it the second week in Vegas just means that some companies need to be there twice in 2 weeks. Moving it to March means they'll compete with Phoenix which I think will have more attendees next year no matter what.

They are starting to listen but it's pretty late in the game. They can still stay on top and I'm happy to give them the chance but they need to be agreesive now and change a lot of things.

Yeah I was all over every floor, checking each booth out and the place looked like a fucking flea market so a $200 pass to a flea market was a waste of MONEY! Now if there was something useful going on maybe I would buy a pass but you get more done at parties and events than you do at the floor, this year there were even booth's left empty for periods, goes to show how much "business" gets done there :P I liked cybernet and would do that one again, but Vegas I'll go on my own and gamble that way I don't have to try and find people at the circle bar again ;) or try and find someplace to eat with Moby (dude you pack it away :P)
