What would you do in my situation?

I've been doing a lot of work the last 4 months in which time I went FT as an adult webmaster. My 4th month in was my best month with $476.00 in sales...then everything went to shit. January was surely going to be even better than decemeber until my host was down for way too long, my listing must have been dropped by almost everyone because my traffic on my submitting domain is lucky to get half of the 20,000 uniques I was getting on it a day. Now I'm at a measly $114.00 in sales for January. |cry|

I've been in the process of switcing hosts the last couple days and it's almost all done except for a few minor things. Word of advice for newbies, do not cheap out on hosting when you are starting off. I learned the hard way what a "disount host" is. Spend the money upfront for quality hosting because if you don't you could end up in my situation and be losing $$$ now.

Question for everyone should I basically start over on a new domain? I think I may so I won't have to login to my stats and see the nothing traffic I now have on that domain, it hurts :(

If you lost listings because your server went down it's doubtful you were blacklisted by anyone. Just resubmit :)

So I should go through all my free sites and resubmit all of them? Would that cause a problem for link lists? I ask because I might re submit one that hasn't been dropped.

Checking your stats should tell you where your sites are still listed. Also, most submit scripts won't let you submit a duplicate URL.

Bill 2006-01-12 09:16 PM

Getting new domains is usually a good investment anyway, especially if you really want to be fulltime.

And it's often worth your while to resubmit dropped sites. Especially to the big guys who allow it. It's also a good idea to tune up the sites before you resubmit, you probably know more now about how to sell your niche than you did when you first built the site.

I would hang myself from the nearest beam.

Getting quality hosting and asking this question on the board is the right start. You may also want to post some of your work. Maybe your long term goal isn't to be working for someone else but many of us are always looking for new talent and are willing to help out an honest webmaster in need.

1. I would contact all of your major traffic sources and explain the situation. Many may allow you to resubmit.
2. Get a new domain and plan on doing twice the work.
3. Hand in there and don't listen to people telling you to hang yourself. Honest hard work seems to put always put food the table.
4. Ask Clea to show her tits. Maybe it's not as helpful as parying but it's more fun |boobies|
5. Visit this baord a few times a day. A lot of people are in business because of GG boards.

Really praying isn't going to do.

Do you pay for sex?

Sorry to hear about the problems Mrenaud :(

I'd agree that you've already taken a good first step by posting here. Check stats and see which of the big sites dropped your listings. Decide if and to whom it's worth resubmitting...and post here letting them know. Depending on how many sites you're talking about...it might be worth it to check their listings and see if your sites are still there.

Also, a new domain can only help in the long run. Gives you another place to build on...another place for a hub...maybe something niche specific so you can target other keyterms.

Tough through it...you'll get there...and there are plenty of folks here to help when possible :)

Mohairsuit??? What rock did this one crawl out from under? |crazy|

I would look around and see whats listed where

and for the sites that removed your links just make new sites that are really copys of the old ones that have different urls

just download them from the server
rename folder
upload and submit

shouldnt take long and you will get all that NEW site traffic again
that should get your stats will be buzzing

dragplantastic 2006-01-12 11:14 PM

You could get 2 new hosts, and 2 new domains, one to each host. That way you only lose half your stuff if one of your hosts tanks. It isn't that much more, if at all, to get 2 cheaper plans at 2 different reputable hosts, rather than one bigger one. I mean that's what I do -I personally just don't like the idea of putting everything with one host and being completely shut down if they go down.

pvtspanky 2006-01-12 11:42 PM

I have two active domains on two different hosts. I am currently looking to add two more domains on two different hosts.

In the past, my domains have gone offline from everything from the server being hacked, to "acts of god" (or really just a power outage...)

In both cases, I continued to make money because only fractions of my work was offline at one time, not all of it.

Good luck:)

Congratulations on going full time. Sorry that this bad luck hit you like this, but I guess you could look at it and see value in the lesson it gave you perhaps?

If it were I, I would resubmit them to the ones that I was sure are no longer listing them. Particularly to the ones that will allow you to submit more than one site a day (so you can submit your normal work and also get the old ones caught up). You already did all that work, you might as well maximize it. :)

As for the LL owners, most of them on this board are very kind and reasonable people. I can't see you being banned or hurt long term by this, especially in light of your post. Many LLs have had past problems with downtime, hacking, domain issues, etc. too.

Good luck!

mrenaud 2006-01-14 04:48 PM

Thanks for the replies. I actually went through all my urls on penisbot to see what was listed and 42 out of 55 of my sites are so that was good. I already have a niche specific domain I'm not using so I'm going to start submitting all my teen stuff with that domain now.

Geezer 2006-01-14 06:27 PM

Yeah I would say just contact the LL's/TGP's and explain. I wouldn't think you will be blacklisted, worse case you might just be deleted.

GunnCat 2006-01-15 09:30 AM

Something like this has happened to all of us at least once I would imagine. Just get back on the horse and do your thing :)
