The younger Bush
Damn the whole Bush family! This is how I found out how the Florida Bush government works.
My son has Hemophilia, has been on Medicaid since we adopted him. Now that he turned 18 they dropped him. His medical expensive are right at two hundred thousand a year. Each time he gives himself a dose it's 4k. Do they give a shit that he can't afford that cost? Hell no just dropped him. My husband's insurance will not cover his medicine because it's a blood product, nor will the insurance that my son can get threw work. But hear is the kicker, this is what they told me on the phone: Do your son have a child or a girlfriend that's pregnant? If he does than we can give him his funding back!! Also said that because he has Hemophilia to sign him up for SSI disability, then he will get his funding back also!! So in other words encourage your kids to have babies, and to not work just stay home and draw benefits...|angry| WTF??? What a nice message we send to our kids in Florida, the more babies you have and the less you work is a good thing as we can help you then. My son is in danger without his medicine, right now he is infusing himself three times a week which comes to a grand total of 12k! And they say sorry?? Fuck them! Sorry had to rant really bad! |
Well thank god for the Hemophilia Society |thumb They assured me that my son would not go without his medicine. They will provide it free until this gets worked out.
They also gave me a lawyers name that is going to file a claim on his behalf to get him his Medicaid back. And they are an advocacy group for people with bleeding disorders so they do it free of charge. So I feel much better to know there are good people who are willing to help out there. It truly made my day to learn this |bow| |
Sue - I'm glad you found a temporary solution at least. That just sucks!
Not that it helps you, but it seems the same everywhere - try to get support for a legitimate problem & you get fucked around, whereas there's all these deadbeat assholes sitting home collecting money for nothing. It really pisses me off |angry| I'll tell you, though - one thing I have learned is that the squeeky wheel DOES get the grease - you should yell long and loud about this and I bet you'll see some action. good luck Ponygirl |
Just go postal on the bastards sue |thumb

I agree with both of you! I have been mad many times but this has really got my blood boiling. Hell I'm not giving up yelling! I've always been the type to say one voice can't make a difference. I feel different now, my voice will be heard loud and clear. The rest of this day will consist of e-mailing in mass numbers :D I have also expressed to the Hemophilia Society that I want to volunteer and be in on their trips to fight city hall. I'm just ashamed of myself for not doing this sooner. So I'm planning on making up for that now! Watch out for the new and improved me.....:D

That's absolutely ludicrous!
Glad you got a solution in place temporarily...hope the legal eagle gets something in place permanently. |

Well I'll be damned! I sent off e-mails today and have already gotten a responsive! There are actually some people in office who seem quite concerned about this and are asking for more info from me |thumb |

Sorry to be seen to be gloating - but I give thanks for our universal health system every day...
The only way to change this is to use your democratic influence, and to encourage everyone you know to do the same. |

When ever I hear stories like this i'm thankful we have nation wide healthcare here in Canada. Granted our hospitals are understaffed and the wait time is horrible, everyone has coverage and no one is ever denied.
