Free site question: is this normal?
It's the end of the month, so I'm checking traffic from my affiliates, like these two free sites: http://www.wj-porn.com/freesites/hai...k/04/main.html &
http://www.wj-porn.com/freesites/hai...k/02/main.html I feel like my images are being used to sell ATK, which is not cool with me. While I realize there is a link to my site under my photos, the site then says, "gallery 1" and "gallery 2" which do to ATK, and another link to ATK. Sure, I'm getting some hits out of it, but a surfer who thinks I'm cute and clicks the "wrong" link and joins some other site. Do people consider this legit linking? These sites are getting listed by a bunch of people who post here, so what's your take? ( http://www.wj-porn.com/freesites/hairy-chick/02/ ) He's made one sale off the pages to my site, and who knows how many to ATK using my photos. |
The way I see this is he's using your pics (thumbs) as a "banner" promoting your site. In my POV this is no different than putting up banners to different paysites. The actual "full size" pictures that are offered on his site are bought content so he can promote whatever site he wants when using them.
Ofcourse if you don't allow your pictures to be used in self-created banners we have a problem :) But I'm sure there will be much smarter people here with another POV on this :) |
I hear what you're saying, but the pages still feel weird to me.
Almost every page that links to me does so amongst other links, but it feels more fair when they all have an image with a model from that site and what surfers are clicking on is crystal clear. For example, Hoes.com uses my photo on the same page that they link to Ravel Riley, but I don't feel like my image is at all being used to drive clicks to her site. It's the fact that my images are the focus of the page, so in my outsider eyes, people would be clicking on "gallery 1" or "gallery 2" because they want to see more of what's pictured, me. But I have no idea how things usually go down in the world of free site building, so maybe this is kosher to everyone else. |

If anyone talks to this guy should let him know he CAN NOT promote ATK site with any other content but ATK content. (trust me, I didn't know it at first either....lol)
It's ok to use multiple sponsors on a site but the way he has his main pages set up will confuse the hell out of his surfers. |
Other than confusing the surfer.. its no different than putting a banner to another program. Perfectly "legal" in the world of freesite building..
If you don't like how he used your pictures, then just ask him to replace them with one of your banners. |huh |
he's not even using your content tho. if he was using your content and promoting other sites i could see a problem.

It seems like he's just working the freesite and offering as many possible outs to a hairy sponsor as he can get. You, ATK, and then a mini-hub he's set up with his various freesites, sponsors, etc. I really wouldn't see a problem with that as...but I'm not a LL reviewer :D
However, I am a TGP reviewer and the question that pops up in my mind...is that hairy content he's using? When I see "hairy" galleries submitted to my tgp...it's hairy...I mean either an untrimmed bush, under arm hair, or both. The model he's used is clean under the arms and the beaver is neatly trimmed. If he were submitting the gallery to me and put it under the "hairy" niche I would change the category as that content doesn't seem hairy to me. |
In my opinion its NOT OK to put ads to site1 when you use site2's free content (even on index and main when you use pics on galleries only) but it seems most sponsors dont have a problem with it so why should I.
I accept the sites. Thays why its so common in free site world. So.. as other metioned I think you should contact him and let him know you dont like the way he uses your content. |
To be honest, the people against that kind of promo could be only the ATK guys, since their photos are the main content of this site and you should be feeling happy cause he's upselling your site on a free site with ATK content.
In this particular case I don't see a problem, cause he's just using your pics for a banner which is linking directly to your site. I'd be worried only if your fullsized pics were on a gallery with ATK banners or the opposite - ATK content/FurryGirl banners. Thus, that's not the case and you really shouldn't feel weird about it :) FULLSTOP! Gotta get back to work! |

My overall opinion is that, even in that small piece of real estate, he's doing a better job promoting FurryGirl than ATK, while doing a disservice to both. I'm not a fan of promoting multiple sponsors on one free site. It's that whole "Click here for hottest babe! Oh, she's not what you want? Then click here for the OTHER hottest babe!" Just doesn't work for me. |
I'm so wet behind the ears it isn't funny, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I don't have a grip yet on what's acceptable to a reviewer or not, but from an outsider's point of view, I agree that a disservice is being done to both paysites. Personally, I'd find it fair if there was no link to ATK on the main page, but only on the gallery pages. Or maybe it would be fair if the link to ATK on the main page was set up like the link to furrygirl.com with pics representative of ATK in a box with them. He does mention ATK in the ATK link, but doesn't overtly metion furrygirl.com in the furrygirl.com link. I think that sucks a bit, and would be a little confusing to a surfer.
Now, moving on because I know that everytime I start talking about fairness I run the risk of starting a rant... I think that you have every right to define how your content should be used, and regardless of who agrees or disagrees with how you want it used, it IS your content. Like I said, I'm a bit green in this game, but I pretty much agree with furrygirl on this one. |
Okay, my take is this:
On the galleries, where the ATK content is used, he is promoting ATK. That fulfills the sponsor requirement (use our content, promote our site). On the inside page, he promotes furrygirl, using images that are in the banner area of the furrygirl webmaster area. I don't see an issue here. The only issue I think has to do with ATK, and what they require and how they limit use of their content. It isn't unusual for sponsors to require that they are the only promotion on a page with their content, but beyond that, not many programs are free site savvy. I see no harm no foul here, unless ATK's terms say otherwise. Alex |
If its your own content then its ok to have any ads on a page
I read in most aponsors TOS - that if our content is on a page then NO other ads may appear... those are nonlinked thumbs but its still your content... I know that submitter... he's ok.. he atleast put your link under your thumbs... I would email him and tell him... also check your tos and adjust it for your content rules, if you dont already have it.. |
The content on his site is not ATK's content but he is in violation of their TOS.

I'm with Sy here - was gonna post it at the start but thought "could I be fucked? No, no I could not"
ATK is very clear on how they are to be promoted even if some affiliates are more equal than others... |
You know FG I kind of feel what you're saying but IMHO YOU are the headliner (front and center) and you're more likely to get that first impulse click. If it were me, I'd be happy.
