Need info about seriously selling a domain that has value
 

I have a domain that I have owned since 1999 that has good quality traffic and it has made me money with out much babysitting. It would probably make alot more money if I had the time to put into the advertising. I have been told by my wife that I should sell it because we are in a really bad spot. I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to it and over the years I have had many offers to sell and turned them all down, even an offer of $5,000.

Now if it is possible to sell a domain and get what its worth I would really like to know what would be the best steps or whatever. I am willing to give a commission if I can get the right price. The reason I say right price is because I know for a fact that this domain has some serious perks that come from over 6 years of linking and developing and it has some nice links in the Yahoo Directory as well.

Anyway I am seriously wanting some help and I would like to point out that of all the Message Boards .. GreenGuyandJim is the only one I trust to ask for this type of help in hopes of not getting scammed.

We'll need to see the domain to give any useful info. Post a link as well as some traffic and revenue info, since all that has to play into the domain's value :)

I would recommend going through a domain broker that would take a percentage of the sale - there are some good ones that handle any type of domain from adult to mainstream that are honest and would do a good job marketing it. I'll see if I can find a good addy for you to get in touch with to see if its something you might be interested in

stick it up on Sedo.com or AfterNIC.com and see if you get any bites...

MadMax - I don't need it appraised I know for a fact its worth about what I want for it. I just needed help selling it and getting the right price.

Linkster and Bell - Thanks guys! I registered with Sedo and I am checking out a few others. I think this is the way to go.

The main goal that I had was to make sure that I wasn't limited to just a few people who read my post. I have done that before and got screwed. I needed to be able to get the domain offer in front of a lot of people and then if I couldn't get what I want for it, so be it.

an idea is why dont you premote your own sedo listing put the sedo link to your domain in your sig and try to post a lot, not spammy posts but try and get involved in converstations/threads

maybe start some threads
