Overture -sudden burst of traffic, change of positions
So, I keep a few overture listings going, from back in the day, grandfathered in at 5 cents a click. In the last two months, last month especially, I'm seeing about a 5 to 10 fold increase in traffic.
I checked my positions today, and my measly 5 cent listings are now sitting in the top ten on my keyword listings, with some in the top three. These listings used to sit in the teens, twenties, and fifties. So, quite a few people have stopped bidding on the positions above me. Quite a few. I've been hesitant to make any changes at all to my listings there, for fear of any change causing a cancellation of my grandfathered status at $.05 a click. But, if other advertisers are getting out of the way, it might be worthwhile to do more with overture. It's kinda surprising. I would have expected Overture bidding to be increasing, not decreasing. |
Bill, it's like anything. If people have overbid, and pushed the price up too high, some people will drop out because they can't get traffic at the price they want, and the people paying the high price probably aren't making a return on their money, so they are dropping as well.
PPC is a skill and a major risk, and not everyone is good enough ot make money on it. Alex |
In the most recently past two weeks I'm seeing a sudden intense increase in overture traffic, presumably from yahoos new deal. I'm getting what used to be four months of traffic every week.
For the past four years the cost has been negligible, but it's going up steeply. I'm going to have to fine tune my target pages to make sure I'm getting my value out of this flood of traffic. Anyone else doing overture? |
Bill....seeing about the same as you although not as big an increase cause the people in front of me havent dropped out yet :)
