BIG Link O'Rama Database Problem

Well, this is one way to cut down on the number of links that I have listed :D

Yesterday afternoon, while doing a search & replace on the database, I somehow lost about 10 months worth of accepted links |huh

National Net should have a back up copy, but if it's from last night, I'm sorta screwed :(

Seeing as I was a complete idiot & didn't back up the database before I tinkered with it, if Nat Net doesn't have a copy that over 24 hours old, the one that I do have is from late January, so worst case scenario is that I've lost a months worth of links |banghead|

I'll keep everyone posted |violin|

Greenguy 2006-02-24 11:55 AM

I'm fucked.

Nat Net did a back up about an hour ago, which means that had I found out that I fucked this up a little earlier, I'd have been ok |banghead|

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

I think I might be able to salvage & re-review the last month's work of submits, so you know what I'll be doing all afternoon.

i am glad i am not the only one who can fuck up links in database, lol i am sorry gg but it gives me a good feeling others can make mistakes too:) i hope you get all fixed soon:)

Ouch, sorry to hear that GreenGuy! :(

Surfn 2006-02-24 12:00 PM

Ya gotta hate when shit like that happens. Good luck getting things restored |thumb

That sucks :(

I have shell scripts on my server that does nightly dumps of all my databases to seven different files one for each day of the week so I always have seven days worth of backups of all my databases. Plus I use rsync to keep a local copy of my server on my laptop and I archive that about once a week to a firewire drive so I also have multiple complete backups of all my domains and databases. I'm just really paranoid about losing stuff.

Think positive. It's always easer to do something the second time. |crazy|

Oh damn...that bites the big one Greenie :(

Best of luck on the repairs |thumb

stuveltje 2006-02-24 12:13 PM

my host or script i realy dont know how that works, but it makes an automaticly(or whatever you name that) back up of the database everyday, only not al the linksites i do have that:(

National Net To The Rescue!!!!!!!!

They found some older copies & one was from yesterday....the exact copy I started to fuck with :D

So I just have to throw today's links into that copy & upload it & I should be all set.

GG, you are a lucky man on this one. I have had similar experiences in the past, and damn, it sucks.

Alex

Greenguy 2006-02-24 02:03 PM

It looks like I lost all the submits from Feb 22nd :(

But all things considered, I'll take loosing a day's worth of submits over 10 months of listings :D

Torn Rose 2006-02-24 02:08 PM

was ya stressing? :D

Cleo 2006-02-24 02:08 PM

I hate to be a pest about this, but if I have a site which was listed, and now is not, how should I tell you?

MrYum 2006-02-24 04:12 PM
