Mouseover code in Firefox

Can somebody pls check the mouseovers on the banner ad and the "Click here for a free tour" link on this page with FF for me?

http://www.quantumporn.com/mouseover.htm

It's the same code I've always used, but now for some reason nothing shows on mouseover, just "Done". I could swear it used to work fine in FF (and still does in IE) so I'm wondering if it's just my browser that's fucked up. TIA

It works fine for me in both FireFox and Mozilla.

Lemmy 2006-02-25 12:34 PM

OK thanks, I guess it's just me then.

Mouseover code does nothing in Safari and Mac Firefox. I actually had no idea that it worked in Windows Firefox.

CrazySy 2006-02-25 12:44 PM

Did you change the browser setting by any chance? because "Done" is usually displayed when your "Change status bar text" is unchecked.

Ramster 2006-02-25 12:49 PM

I use FireFox and I also get nothing when a mouseover code is used. Been that way since I started using FireFox.

Tools ----> Option ----> Web Featurs ----> Advanced ----> make sure the box in front of "Change status bar text" is checked. It should work :)

Works for the Mac version too.

Kewl this means I can stop using IE to do reviews.

Yep, that's one of those little things about FF where the default settings don't work well for folks in our biz.

Well done Sy |thumb

Hmm.. but how do we know what settings will the average surfer use?
|huh

Cleo 2006-03-18 04:47 PM

The average surfer will not change anything from the default.

This means that most Firefox users will see the real URL and not the pretty mouseover one if you go to the trouble of doing one.

I think with ff when you add onmouseover jazz it turns up as "Done" or blank in status bar, by default. It wont display the url or what you have directed it to.

What version you guys running? I cant find this option with this path. 1.5.0.1. In fact I dont have the "web features" part of the path. You guys maybe have an old version when auto check for update wasnt on by default ?

Simon 2006-03-27 10:12 AM

Doug ... look under "Content" in your settings/preferences. With 1.5.0.1 on the Mac platform they changed how those controls are accessed. Maybe it'll be the same for you.

Doug E 2006-03-30 05:15 AM

content -> advanced -> change status bar text

sweet, thanks man :)

so they must be runnin mac then? or they got an old version ;)
