Can anyone give me an answer to this?

I am seeking some help and info.

Is there a site online that someone can use to see if submitters are using a free host. By putting in their IP address and or a URL to see if it states that they are indeed using a free hosting company?

And is there a site online that shows the names of those free hosting services?

Thank you so very much in advance.

I doubt that such a list exists, but http://www.whois.sc/ will give you all kinds of info on a domain & a lot of us use it to find people on free & revshare hosting.

I think greenguy hit it on the head... a little detective work and you can find most anything you need, and over time, you will get use to the signs that say "free host" or "revshare hosting" and be able to deal with it on a case by case basis.

Yep, that's the tool I use most of the time |thumb

Don't think I've ever seen a 'list' of free hosts either. Alex is right...the signs become more and more apparent as you get used to looking up every new submitter.

Looks like a great service for someone to get started ....a site that offers a quick look to see which are free hosts ;)

There are some pretty good detective tools on this page that might help you: http://www.dnsstuff.com/

ie: see how many domains the server hosts, whether or not if it's on any abuse lists, etc etc .

Also,
I'd be interested in how you guys (and gals) would feel and treat affiliate webmasters that had their own domains on their own virtual web hosting account with a well known reputable host but their bill was being paid for by the sponsor.

Yep, that's another tool I use frequently |thumb

As to your question about sponsor paid hosting...it would be a no go for me. Frankly, I just don't get the whole FREE attitude with this business. Shit, people want FREE content...FREE hosting...FREE domains...FREE listings...to make money! WTF is wrong with this picture???

This is a business...it takes time, effort, patience...and YES, sometimes you even have to invest your very own money in it to make a viable business. I invested thousands of my own dollars into this biz before I made anything significant back. And I continue to invest profits back into the business every month. Because it's a BUSINESS...and it requires re-investment to grow and flourish.

Sorry BV...this rant really wasn't meant directly at you :)

It's just that the cost of getting into this business is SO low...b/w has never been cheaper...content has never been cheaper. And yet, so many people STILL want everything handed to them for free...so THEY can make money. Just boggles my little mind |dizzy|

I have to agree with you MrYum...mind boggling at the least.

Thanks for the two great links |thumb I also don't know how to figure out if it's a free host. Looks like those links might make my job a lot easier!

On that topic is ****host.com a free host? It appears to be and I have just banned someone for using it. But a confirmation would be great.

And sorry BV just because the hosting is from a 'reputable' hosting company and paid for by a known sponsor it is still free hosting. The affiliate still doesnt have complete control over it. The sponsor could decide one day they don't want to pay anymore and poof the sites are all gone.

Thanks everyone for the info. Greatly appericated. :D
