The problem with small judges
So, as I have mentioned before, I am stuck having to watch Judge Judy. She was a real family court judge and seems to represent most small time judges.
So, yesterday, there is a guy that had his picture posted and the girl that owns http://www.hotghettomess.com/ took it, put her logo on it and put it on her site. Judy said that it didn't seem to be destructive to the guy and gave him nothing and said that the girl didn't have to remove it but she should be nice and do it anyway. WTF??? Was all I could say to my wife. I was actually screaming at the TV :) |
Jim, do people go to Judge Judy for justice or publicity?
|
Both I think...and they get paid. But, the last thing this guy wanted was more exposure. I'm sure the girl that runs the site agreed to go because of the exposure to her site. She made it clear that everyone knew the url of the site.
But my point here is that she stole the picture of the guy off his own site and put her logo on the picture and posted it on her own site. And then the judge says she has no legal reason to force the girl to remove the picture. She just kept telling the guy to lighten up. |
And...Judy agreed with the girl that it was a constitutional issue to a point.

I seen something like that befor on another TV Judge show,
Peoples Court I think. She ruled the same way and in her opinion stated that the image was not copyrighted, therefor not protected. Then stated that it only cost X amount of dollars to copyright online or some crap like that. I think the ruling sucks and is wrong too... Ben |

LOL,
Yeah, she always has Burt do the stuff for her... machines (she admitts) are to complicated and yet claims to be smarter than anyone and everyone... Made for TV for sure. Ben |
I have checked out that site a few times today and 1/2 the time it is down. I guess her server wasn't quite ready for what Judy claims is 10 million people watching :)
|
But still, I could see a small time real judge making the same ruling. Then again, how often is the content thief in your own hometown?
|
I suppose it would really depend on what type of scrutiny was applied in making the decision.
Out right thief or, one business taking from another but the first business not having copyright protection. The second will not help ones reputation working online. That probably should be pointed out to the newer people starting out online. You steal someones work in the online business and get called out on it, your more than likely done, as far as being trusted. Ben |
Hahah!!!
|
Fuck a small town judge
|
I know this thread was buried to some degree, but I found a few pics on HotGhettoMess that were from other sites, including paysites... don't the sites logos iply ownership and therefore are copywritten?

The People's Court came right out and said, you have to spend a few bucks to get things copyrighted. Judge Judy was just stupid. She never mentioned a copyright. She just said, the woman didn't say anything hurtful so it was ok. |
