Slow and Steady or go for Volume?

I just came across a post on a different board where a few webmaster were discussing making Blogs in volume in order to achieve their goal of 10,000 visitors per day. Some of these "blogs" act like feeder sites for bigger blogs. Essentially these blogs are nothing more then a few pages with some galleries and text thrown in. This webmaster is claiming that he is now making a living from that. Good for him.

Our Mr Walrus has made his opinion well know on how he feels about quality of writing. This method takes time and a lot patience. But it can be quite rewarding. You can build up a "fan base" of readers and word of mouth advertising is cheap and very effective. A blog that is continually updated should survive any of the ups and downs that SE's tend to throw our way.

I suppose both methods are effective. One may have a quicker return than the other, but will always be viewed as "spammy". Or am I totally off the mark here?

The whole thing is, although you might be able to create thousands or more pages, or many different blogs, it does not mean you will get traffic. The big question, where is the traffic coming from? Just like creating a porn site, just because you made it and uploaded it to the net, no one knows it's there unless you tell them.

Plus as mentioned in another thread on the same subject, since it's really spam, or close to it, there is a real good chance it will be flagged as such, so all the work could be down the drain.

What makes me wonder also, if doing blogs in volume, how do you keep up with the posts? Or post on a regular basis? I think I saw one of these people, a submitter submitted a bunch of blogs to my LL, probably a good 30 in one day, of course he's doing the volume thing. But, every one of his blogs I checked, every one was lucky to have one post a month and of course I did'nt add one of them, as I only list blogs that are posted to on a regular basis. Sure he might get some trades, but most places for good traffic, will most likely decline him. How is he getting ahead or making a living off blogging?

Maybe it is possile, I just dont see it, or not seeing what they are doing. I could eb wrong.

For me, it's slow and steady. Although you may not get rich or make good money fast, your more likely to survive much longer and grow much bigger.

Really, it depends on what your purpose is. I've always believed if your out to make a quick buck thats exactly what you'll make, a quick buck. But when that fast money dries up, you'll be looking for the next way to make another quick buck.

Whereas, by building something of quality, taking it a little more slowly and building up branding and trust with you customer (in this case the surfer) when it's all said and done you'll be farther ahead and have something that you can look back upon with pride.

I know which board and which thread bunky is talking about...in it I posted MY bookmark % LOL huge difference between that person's 6-10% bookmarks and my 15-30% bookmarks.

My original blog (Ana's Porn Blog) traffic being from bookmarks. It took me almost 2 months to make my first sale that I was certain came from the blog.

My text-only erotica/story blog (Erotic Porn Blog)gets about 200 views a day and makes a sale here and there. Being a text-only blog, it has the lowest bookmark % at about 15-17%.

My newest blog, Pantie Amateur Blog is only a couple weks old and has the highest % of bookmarks because most people haven't seen it. It's already up to about 300 views per day and is 100% personal, getting good SE traffic already, but hasn't made its first sale yet, but then again, I am not being overtly commercial on it.

Basically, the thread author on that other board has labeled what I am building as "super-blogs." LOLSo be it...I want just a few high-traffic "real" blogs that get bookmarkers like crazy and page views like crazy...maybe someday I will build up to Fleshbot's level if I keep at it!
