software question

hey guys, I was wondering if I really need dreamweaver and photoshop, as they will be setting me back 1200$ and I don't even know how to use them yet|banghead| I plan on making freesites daily and submitting them to LL. I know there is other software out there, but does it get the job done as well? Or would I be better off spending that 1200$ to buy something more worthwhile for an aspiring net pornographer?

I use notetab pro approx $20 (lite version is free) and paint shop pro I think I paid a little over $100 for it. You can try the trial version of psp for 30 days to see if you like it. pinoy7 has some tutorials for psp also. :)

You could try http://www.gimp.org/ as a potential replacement for Photoshop. It can read .psd files, contains many of the filters that Photoshop has. Downloadable free.

Another fan of NoteTab here...very handy software. Before you start messing around with wysiwyg editors, you really should know html. But then, I'm kind of a dinosaur in that respect...I firmly believe in hand coding.

Graphics wise, I use Fireworks. Image editors...I use a couple...SuperJPG (hard to find now)...and Ulead Smartsaver.

You can easily get viable software to do free sites for a whole lot less than $1200. With hand coding of html, you can probably get all you need for well under $100 |thumb

I'll put in a 3rd vote for NoteTab Pro.

I couldn't live without it

You can try free software:
Dreamweaver -> NVU
Photoshop -> GIMP

I appreciate the suggestions guys. I have gimp and am starting to play around with it now, NVU I have never heard of, but I will try that too.

On a side note whenever I hear GIMP, I think of the one from pulp fiction; "go get the gimp bill"|bananna|

First Page 2006 is free, also creates thumbs and resizes photos if you need it to. They've been around for 6-7 years now. Uses tabbed screens so you can use wysiwyg or hard code.

We use it on 7 systems.

Everything everyone has mentioned is good stuff. I think it's just a matter of what you get use to and what you're comfortable with as a user.
