grouping LL recips

hi to all, I was wondering how exactly I can make my LL list so every LL owner to be happy.First of all I made my LL list using Alexa ranking, but in the submitting process I see that more LL`s owners require to be with specific LL on the recip table, so what I am asking is:
How to make my LL list better and can this be a reason for declining any free site?
thanks a lot guys
tell me what do you think|thumb

If you use Alexa as your criteria for determining who gets listed with whom then you shouldn't be surprised if you get a ton of declines.

Friends prefer to be listed with friends :D

Not many places will reject you outright because of poor recip grouping, but it's a good idea to group according to size/traffic. Some of the biggies might reject if they're constantly grouped with nothing but no-name LLs.

Once in a while you'll come across a smaller LL with outrageous grouping requirements, my advice would be to drop them.

Personally I don't give it much thought as long as the LLs I'm grouped with are real, live sites accepting submits.

ok agree with you Surfn, but its hard to understand who wants with who to be listed. Can you give some list? :)
Lemmy, thats what I am trying to do according to Alexa ranking and I can group LL by traffic sent as I do it, but some LL never listed me so I don`t know what size they are?
thanks for your answers

I gotta agree with Lemmy on this one; as long as I know the link lists I'm grouped with are active sites I'm pretty much happy. I try to group my free site submits by the amount of traffic the link lists sends me since I think that's the most fair criteria :).

I use Alexa by checking every LL traffic rank and then make a list from highest traffic rank to the smaller. At all I get accepted at most places, but some are not listing me and I will find out why |huh thanks

Only thing I can suggest is to make your grouping organized (should be anyways) in a reasonable way. I would also suggest balancing out big LL's with smaller ones but I know many LL's prefer to exist with at least one or two active bigger ones...it helps with evenily building traffic with everyone, where later in time, this becomes a benefit.

I know there is a HUGE list of LL's to look at when you see the list here at GG & Jim, or even places like thelinkmachine.com and it can be confusing to really know which ones are really the better. Not necessarily traffic-wise, but also for knowing which ones actually put effort into their LL and have a good sense of business or even customer service (do they help webmasters with problems or potential problems, or do they ignore everyone).

Using alexa to check traffic only shows a portion of the real traffic and should not really be used as an accurate tool for this purpose. This only shows those who are listed with Alexa and also for those who use the Alexa toolbar as well.

Grouping and creating a select list of link sites is something that develops overtime. Networking is key as well...get to know your LL owners, as Surfn said, "Friends prefer to be listed with friends".

You probably already know this as well, but when you do your recip tables, make sure they are either all text links, or all banners, or all text banners....eg: some will not like it if you give others banners but the one only a text link.

I'd forget Alexa. The more sites you make the better 'feel' you'll get for where the different LL's should go. Most of the larger ones want to be grouped with each other so make say 75% of your recip grid large LL's and fill up with with smaller ones.
If a site doesn't list you, ask why politely. Some of the larger LL's are overflowing with submits so you need them more than they need you! and they might need a gentle nudge so that your name stand out next time.
Cheers :)

IMO Alexa never did a thing for my sales. Learning which LL's send traffic that converts is what I do. I could care less about my stats spinning...
