My sites down - Registrar is fucking my domains
 

My freesites will be down a bit because I was foolish enough to use a particular 6.99/year place as my domain registrar.

The domain that is down is:

and I have no idea yet if they're going to screw up these other ones but odds are very good:

I've been submitting sites to a lot of your link lists (username: "subber") for a while now and I would humbly appreciate your grace and patience while I tilt at this maddening windmill and get it straightened out.

I renewed all my domains a week before their expiration date. They of course billed my credit card PROMPTLY but that was the only prompt thing they did. They were slow in getting the names renewed.
As part of the process the apparently changed names of their company or reorg-ed or something because they required me to transfer my domains from them to another company which is also them. I've been emailing their support without getting any resolution.
Today at midnight my domain names stopped resolving.

Called their 24/7 customer support, on hold for 30 minutes, after which their system disconnected the call (or they just hung up). Called back, same thing happened. I'm currently on hold again, but frankly I'm not hopeful (while I listen to their chirpy music and chest-beating sales progaganda).

Could probably guess which registrar this is. When you get your stuff live again, might be time to look at moving to another registrar.

They all seem to be fine here - and the whois records all look like they were updated today

Just got an email from my friend who's working on this for me:

"Had to update the whois with my info and resubmit all the dns info that they wiped. No luck. I tried calling their 24/7 support again and AGAIN. Keep getting disconnected after 20 minutes on hold. I tried using their web based support form. Their tactic seems to be to ask a clarifying question--and then close the trouble ticket! "Which domains are affected ? ( close close close )" I've submitted so many tickets now that I get a different screen to submit. I think that's the escalation process. They only ever seem to respond to new trouble tickets, so all my communication with them is being done by opening a new one.

Finally after threating to cc their legal team and their executive staff ( I'm compiling a list from their press releases ) I finally got someone to tell me that the problem *should* be solved in 12 hours. Presumably its solved on their end and we're waiting for the dns to propagate out to the internet."

Some but not all of the domains are up now. The domain I use for email is still down. Just hoping that I don't end up blacklisted by the 90 or so LLs I've been submitting to and I don't even want to think about all the TGPs; I'm freaking that my domains will have to be scorched or something and I'll lose what adult traffic traction I had achieved.

Can someone recommend another registrar? Who do you use? I need to use someone else in the near future, with 24/7 support that isn't powered by hamsters, and dixie cups on strings.

I use http://www.cwnic.com/ - not the cheapest but my mind is always at peace.
