Search Engine Chat tonight at 11pm New York Time

Everybody is invited to come to another search engine chat tonight, on the GG&J IRC channel. I need to leave a little early tonight so the chat will be about 15 minutes shorter.

nice chat guys - read it this morning - thanks :D

I was just checking out some stuff on image search and found a site where when you click on the thumb in google it redirects to another site instead of the image - but if you click the thumb in the framed page it goes to the image.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...D%26safe%3Doff

Any idea how they do this?

Well, it's obviously some kind of redirect, my first guess would be an intentional redirect of images.google with htaccess, but it could be just a hotlinking protection that catches images.google. Which is one strategy for dealing with google images traffic, which can be hard to make sales from.

But, I'm just idly guessing at what they are doing, you'd have to get someone with more knowledge of redirecting to get a certain answer.

Redirecting is a strategy, but not my favorite one, for getting some cash out of images.google.

Well, the good news is you didn't miss one of the best chats, I had to leave early last night to meet with a friend who was just getting back from a fishing vacation in the florida keys, who wanted to brag about his catch over a beer.

So we sort of meandered over topics, instead of talking more closely about google images traffic, which is what i had originally planned.
