The Y word

I'm working on a site right now about this bitch I'm totaly in love with,Kelli Young.:D The problem is I'm not sure how to go about this with the word "young" in her name.I mean as long as I just use the word young when speaking of her last name is it ok?Maybe I should call her teen kelli or just Kelli?Maybe I should just promote something else?

It's going to be up to you... some places may not list it even on the banners, some don't care. If she looks young and has a stoopid name like that I wouldnt touch it myself, but thats just me.
Thats one problem with teen freesites.. we all have our own ideas of what we will list or not. I quite strict with it on my linklists just because I don't feel comfortable with the whole concept of making girls seem young. (It comes from having a teenage daughter in part.)

Yeah,I understand Natalie.I'm not too hot on the idea of using the word myself but if I want to promote this site looks like I have no other choice.I don't know...I'm just going to put this one off to the side for now and see what others think(since everyone has their own rules about it).Any other LL owners, feel free to chime in here.

Star Man, using the word young should not be a problem as long as it's not used along side "Girl" or "Teen". I use that word myself as I don't see any issue with "Young babe" or "Young lady", I am sure some link lists don't like that word at all and in my case, I just don't submit to them :D

If her name is Kelli Young, you shouldn't have any problem calling her by name. I don't think anyone expects for you to rename her to Kelli Smith. ;) If you refer to her as a young teen or young girl - that's where you'll run in to rejections. Like CrazySy said, it all depends on how you use it. There are some lists that didn't want to see 'young' at all on a teen site. I used to be one of them. But now it all depends on context. I'm becoming a push-over in my old age.

I agree - it all depends on the rest of the sentance & the words around it.

MrYum 2006-04-03 11:42 AM

Yea, I'm pretty strict about that word on teen sites. However, given that it's her name (stoopid name for a teen site, but wtf do I know)...I'd go along with context. If young is only used on the site as part of her name, I'd probably let it slide |thumb

I would however look at the paysite and if it's one of those pigtails/braces/teddybear things, I'd still decline listing the freesites promoting it.

Yeah I think they are starting to realize that to.I just went over to pick up some banners and they have a few that say "hotkelli.com" now.Of course it also says enter here in huge letters making them completly usless for me but it's a start.

Sad, but quite a few sponsors have no clue about what promo materials can and cannot be used on free sites :(

Perhaps text only on the entry would be a work around for you. I've built a lot of free sites over the years with text only on the entry page to get around the 'Enter' on banners problem.

Another possibility is to ask the sponsor to come up with something usable. Some are more responsive than others to such requests, but certainly can't hurt to ask |thumb

The bitch could at least wait until people join to start asking for free shit:D
