Star Man's tuesday review
Ok,I think this ones ready to walk the free site streets, just to be sure though a quick look over it would be much appreciated.I think the recips turned out ok and everyone should be able to enter the main site when clicking on enter(always a nice bonus for the surfers:D )Anyhow I pretty much didn't even end up using the word young except on the title and on a few banners so it should be ok.Thanks guy's|thumb

Hi again :)
First of all the Red text on the Blue background is really hard to read on some monitors or for some people. The recips are still ordened a little strage but it's getting better :) But I'd list it :) |
Morning Fonz|waves|
Ok,thanks man.Cool.I'll tweak it up a bit and get it out. |
Yup, agree with Fonz...the red on blue is a bit painful...though not enough to cause a decline here.
However, I'm getting a slight side scroll on all pages. That will cause some declines :( |

Did notice this in your code "773px". That very well may be what's pushing things too close. Try dropping that by about 15 or 20 px and I'll bet that fixes it. For what it's worth, I'm seeing the scroll in Firefox with the developer extension used to instantly resize. Usually, it's pretty darned accurate :) |
Ok,I tried dropping it like 15 -20 px like you said Yum and when I uploaded it I was getting scrolling, so I just rearanged the recips a bit and slightly shrunk and compacted everything on the site.I downloaded firefox to check it out and it seems to be ok now.Plus i changed the colors of the red text to a dark brown. Not the best choice but hopfully a little easier on the eyes.:D

Hi star man yes I agree with the color thing as you build more sites your eyes will soon open up to using the right color scheme, what you can do when having some spare time is to just play with BG colors and text colors and soon you will see which ones dont go togther well... and you will see what ones hurt the eyes when looking at the site, and trust me I've seen some bad ones in my 3 years reviewing sites...

Hello Star Man.
The last three things I do before submitting are: 1. Re-check the site in Firefox. Mr Yum'll catch ya every time! :D 2. Re-check to ensure my photo file extensions aren't upper case. ie .JPG is bad, .jpg is good. Another MrYum special related to Firefox, which asks the user what to do with the uppercase .JPG file instead of just displaying the pic. 3. Check the site has no scroll at 800x600. I use http://www.webconfs.com/web-page-screen-resolution.php which I got from someone here on GG&J, but I can't remember who it was. Sorry to that person. Oh, and I always build inside a central table set at 740 pixels wide just to be on the safe side. Hope that helped a bit! :) |

Here are some sites that can help you pick which colors work best with others. Some of the sites are a little tricky to figure out, but once you do, they're a fast way to see lots of potential text/background combinations within a target range.
