Blog modus operandi...quantity or quality?
 

I was wondering what your thoughs where on the preffered modus operandi for a blogger, go for quantity like I mentioned in another thread, or go for quality with fewer. It seems as though more of you are opting for the latter, but I could be mistaken.

I can imagine that there is a limit on how many blogs one can operate successfully without letting them go to shit. Unless you can hire a team of monkeys to blog for you|headbang|

I once said a very long time ago that this debate could be a simple equation of talent. I think in a way it still is.

If you were making a resturant you could either invest everything into making one nice big 5 star resturant, or you could buy a shitload of half assed hotdog carts.

either way will make money, probably. What do you want to do tho? sell steaks or hotdogs?

and the talent comes down to whether or not your small set of quality sites can hold and acquire the attention of your dozen of other smaller sites.

Boogie, have you found it advantageous to offer less in the way of pics, and more text links? I think you have about 1 billion of them.|shocking| Your blog is VERY large.

I may be butting in here but my thoughts on the matter is "give'em shit to click". I post a picture or four to set the tone of the post, link it to a hosted gallery from the sponsor, write some shit that fits with my personality, sprinkle in a few text links here and there. Although, I don't think I follow any type of "formula" and hopefully my posts are as bi-polar as my personality but I try to always follow the credo "give'em shit to click"

I find that linking to anything and everything helps. I offer a mix of pics and text. I think a mix is good, because people who only want pics will scan for them, the people who want to read will do so.

My blog has about 500 entries now, is taking in a fair amount of search engine traffic a day and has some rediculous amount of inbound links. its no fleshbot, of course, but it aint bad ;)

So mixing some mainstream in would work great for a blog as long as it offered an interactive aspect? My dream has been a blog called societyoflibertines.com, I already have the domain, I want to integrate humor, insightful commentary on finely clefted assess and vaginas, exquisite things like how extraordinary a redlining carrera gt sounds, and the sheer enjoyment of everything possible that defines the Libertines/hedonistic lifestyle.

do you guys think it's nuts?|crazy| or a great idea if implemented properly?

The Marquis de Sade would be proud. ;) It's an excellent idea as there are so many different audiences to appeal to. The educated or slightly more refined surveyor of porn goodness is oft forgotten as we constantly market to those searching for 'cumslut fuck pics'. As I like to say, "find a hole and fill it."

My opinion of your current mental state really isn't important. In my rarely humble opinion, a blog is the ideal medium to promote your idea from.

your idea is a good one and sometimes it helps to be a bit nuts. Being nuts prevents you from thinking like everyone else.

I like your Libertine blog idea. Years ago I was involved with one project called the Libertine Art Society and another called La Societe Libertaine (later rolled into the POWErotics/UrbanKink site). I can tell you that there definitely is a segment of the online market who'll be responsive to the "hedonistic lifestyle" approaches.

As far as moving my current sites over to WP, I've sort of shelved that for the time being. Since what I wanted to do is so advanced there isn't a plugin that will do exactly what I want (although I will be testing one this weekend that has promise) but since I already had WP installed...I decided to start a new project.

I'll probably take it public next week sometime.
