Changed Homepage NEED HELP

arghh! Ok my newbiness is going to come shining through here but I could really use some help!!

I recently got hit with one of those grand webmasters that enjoys the living piss out of changing someone's hompage and I can't get rid of it! This is one of MAIN reasons I never got serious about the adult Internet. One flipping BOZO can just ruin so much for so many people.

Anyway, I digress..
The new homepage is search-click.com

I cannot remove it from my computer. I am certain there is a way but I don't know it - it has also added about 4 other programs that I have been able to rid myself of, but the homepage thing has me really irritated.

If anyone can help PLEASE DO

Thanks
Abbie

If you haven't already done so, you need to run Ad Aware and also Spybot .

Then see what that does. No guarantee that they alone will remove it, but try them first.

If they show nothing, then you may need HijackThis and then get someone to take a look at your log file before you try and fix anything.

Urb,
Thanks for the reply.
I ran adaware but nothing came up. I'll try the alternative next!

Thanks again
Abbie

Go here:

http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

They check your PC and tell you if you have a parasite - it seems you have - and tell you how to get rid of it.

Also, check your hosts file. Click C:, right click, click search, write hosts and search. When it finds a file named hosts, click it, choose 'select a program from a list' , OK, choose notepad, OK. ´

It should have this URL in it:

127.0.0.1 localhost

If there is any other URLs, delete them, then save hosts file. You should have your own homepage back.

You could also start surfing using Mozilla instead of IE.

..as per what the others have said..

AND..go and make sure your IE version is up to date...

I went to that URL just for grins to see what it would return for my Fruit powered Mozilla.

Detection script

Your browser has not been checked for parasites, because it isn’t Internet Explorer 5 (or later) on Windows.

For technical reasons, the automatic-detection feature on this web page can only work with IE/Win, with “Active scripting” and “Run ActiveX controls” enabled.

(Other browsers and operating systems tend not to be so badly affected in any case.)

I love this part "
