Problems with video

Hi all,

I made a freesite with video clips and when I play the movies from my pc they are working fine.
But after uploading them they don't work in my media player.
Can someone check how they work.

http://www.alterna-erotica.com/rever...gal1/index.htm

I had to split them myself and used AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Splitter.
Never have done this before but it is very easy to use with very few options.
I don't understand why they are playing fine from my HD but not when they are on the net.
The uploaded files are of the same size so their is nothing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

are you sure the files are named correctly in your a href tags? Maybe they are MPG or MPEG instead of mpg? I'm also getting 404 on the first, and what looks like just the very first frame on the 2nd too.

I use the same splitter, what version are you using? I had issues with an older version, and upgraded to 4.26. When you split the movies, did it seem like the time to split was WAY too fast? If so, you might be having the same issues I did, and need to upgrade the version.

Yes I am sure I even try to call hem mpeg but that did not help and I uploaded them several times.

I also use the 4.26 from download.com but did not buy it yet.
It has a 10 day trial.

I must say the splitting is fast but what I don't understand is why are they playing good on my PC???

The problem are the mpg files.
I uploaded the entire mpg file and that one did not work either some wrong codec.

I had the opportunity to download WMV files and these are working fine.

Question still is why are they playing fine on my PC?

Thanks for the help Surfn, RedCherry and Maj. Stress |thumb

That is the mystery of video, lol. Can't help you there. I hate that mystery shit. Glad you figured it out though. I always put wmv's up, smaller file size but you need a converter to render the mpg to wmvs.

Hi Troy
I have had a number of problems with video recently and the first one I had sounds a bit like yours.
Are you converting them to mpeg2? Or mp4?
In the program you use it should be mpeg 1. Maybe this is the issue?
Also being in Europe I hope you don't have the ntsc / pal probs that I had.

Yep, all 3 are playing fine in wmp now |thumb

No idea what would have been causing the problem before though, but vids can sometimes be finicky. I see free sites sometimes where the vids just open a screen full of gibberish and choke the browser. Never figured out what causes that either.

Could it have been the file upload setting, ie ASCII or binary?

troy 2006-04-10 06:09 AM

Thanks for the input all but I give up |banghead|

First the WMV played fine the next time I got only a green screen.
I tried their other content but these also sometimes play but get a green screen the next.

I looked to all the things you adviced me to look at but they are all good.
I did quite some movie sites and never had this problem so it must be the content.

Ok I am not really a quitter.
Can someone check these movies one more time.
I again tried the WMV's since MrYum told they were working for him.

Thanks

On the first page I'm getting...
20 secs first clip
21 secs second clip
21 secs third clip
On the second page...
20 secs first clip
24 secs second clip
21 secs third clip

Firefox 1.5.0.1 / Wmp 10

Noticed the sound seems very low on all the clips.

Good luck!

I used ie6 and wmp 10

troy 2006-04-11 03:33 AM
