my first freesite - review please?

Hey all. I finally have my first working freesite up and running and ready to submit!

Any and all feedback is appreciated.
Thanks :D

It looks Ok. But are there spaces in you image filenames? If so I'd remove them and redo the links leading to them. That will only cause you problems.

You could use more text, especially on your index IMO. That's going to have the most incoming links, so I'd want that to be the best SEO'd page personally.

On the galleries, the top ad text isn't linked, why not? Even if you wanted some unlinked text above the ad, add some linked text below it. :D

Definitely remove any blank space from file names. Use hypens or underscores, but you don't want blank spaces on html or jpg file names...can cause problems with some browsers.

Other thing I noticed is your protected whois info. These days, due to the influx of scammers...reviewers need to see your real whois information. It's a business, we like to know who we're doing business with :)

Other than that, it's a nice clean site...well done |thumb

I like the simplicity of it because that will sell better IMO. So just a couple of things to think about for future sites IMHO is:

Make the text links jump off the page so you catch people in that 1 second attention span that they have.

Use more text than banners, and dont leave a banner alone without some text. Try limiting yourself to 1 banner per page.

That's a freesite but I don't see lots of alt tags for SE optimization...nice site...simple and neat...

Thanks for the feedback everyone! :D I'll use more text, less banners in future. I removed the spaces and turned off the whois protection.

Wait, are you saying the lack of SEO alts is good or bad? Should I add more?

PR_Tom 2006-04-18 01:01 PM

I think it's good to go ahead and add 1 or 2 or 3 words per image for an alt tag. Relevant to the page obviously, not too spammy, just accurate.
Not overly repetetive.

Boaz 2006-04-18 03:05 PM

There, I put more specific alt tags. Does that look better to people?

It's hard to be specific without being spammy, and keep it 1-3 words. Felt like I was writing: "blowjob, more blowjob, they're still sucking his dick, yep still goin'..." :)
