Content providers, why do we let them post?

This board spends a lot of time getting itself in front of the webmasters, online. I would also think of all the useless shit that is posted, we need to get rid of content providers the most.

The mainstream porn industry has lots of boards and if all boards or most, banned content providers, then the quality in general would improve. They are mostly just spamming at webmasters working hard in the biz, we are sitting here letting them post inane shit from thier computers. They largely don't have the trust of the porn webmaster, as the real posters do, and it can only be be an improvement. Banning them could do that.

So why don't we stand up strong and ban all content providers from the board so we can get on with business?

Cleo 2006-04-17 08:26 PM

And then where would we get our content?

SirMoby 2006-04-17 09:49 PM

Actually I buy from a dozen or so content providers and none of them spam at all. A few of them hang out on the boards and active members of the community but not spammers. There are some spammers but why would I give my business to them when I can give that same business to non-spammers?

I think the entire business would be better without content providers.

It's very well known that anyone with a camera and a girl to pose naked can produce porn and if not then there is always newsgroups.

Let's do more than ban them from posting let's ban them from the Internet completely.

Chop Smith 2006-04-18 01:00 AM

YaFool, you are still a idiot. Just wait for Useless Warrior to tell you what he really thinks of you.

You should take pics and become a content provider and then you could spam all of us.

Greenguy 2006-04-18 11:00 AM

They're not all bad - take Martin from Club Xstream. He only posts when someone asks a question about content that he can add a legit reply or help/advice. Someone posts looking for pantyhose content, martin's replies are usually along the lines of "Yes, we have pantyhose content. Look at these pages for examples & let me know if I can help"

It's the asshats that post in any thread that has the word "content" in it that piss me off to no end.

I met Martin and his wife Isabelle at the Phoenix Forum they are really great people and very helpfull!

sue-fl 2006-04-18 12:22 PM

Have to jump in on Club Xstream as I buy all my content from them. I never have gotten any kind of spam by any means. Only great service and a shit load of content to choose from....|thumb

japamor 2006-04-18 12:36 PM

All the content providers I have dealt with have given good courteous service. I continue to get the odd email from them about special offers etc and I find this very useful. I've certainly not noticed any overt over-spamming either by email or on this board. |waves|

We buy from a small group of content suppliers. Many of our newer suppliers were recommended by one board member or another here. And almost none of those suppliers post here (except maybe rarely, as GG mentions). Sometimes I think it does work against content suppliers to be seen as too eager/willing to have many webmasters as customers for the same photos.

...Content providers that open their own paysites using content they are selling to other webmasters. |banghead|

I can see your point here. Nuch better to have a content provider who only speaks when spoken to and does not sell the content too many times. I like the ones who sell a set 2-3 times for $5 or better even less.

And these guys are the absolute worse. How dare they try to maximise the profit from their content. The next thing that will happen is affiliates submitting galleries to more than one site.

I agree. I won't buy from a pushy content provider and I spend whatever to get the content I like. :)

Mr. Blue 2006-04-19 04:36 PM

There's some good content providers, they don't spam, and they get some great word of mouth buzz from satisfied webmasters. There's some content providers that buy advertising on a board, I'm also cool with that as they're support the board / community and I don't have a problem with them posting advertising stuff, etc.

I think the only group that really bugs me is the guys that sit on boardtracker all day waiting for the word content to pop up...they then post regardless if they can be helpful or not.

Only one group is worst...that's the guy that starts meaningless threads, does so on all the adult boards, and its basically softcore spam in the guise of a real thread. Seriously, pay the cash, become a board sponsor if you want to peddle your stuff on a board.

Paul Markham2 2006-04-19 04:55 PM

I guess people are pointing at me or people like me, so let me tell you the other side.

Producing Content is not as profitable as it was 5 years ago.

We need to get out there and keep pushing to keep selling, for every person who wants the softly softly approach from a content provider there are two who will buy from the aggressive marketer.

Now look around at the number of content providers who do advertise on the boards. How many can you count? Because the truth is the sponsors have priced it out of our reach.

Now look around at the number of good content providers there are, not a lot. A lot have found it best to shoot exclusive and give up the non exclusive market, if not for the other sales we make we would of gone the same route.

So while you sit back and moan about content providers who keep spamming the boards, be thankful we are still here. Because without them you would be in the hands of the sponsors giving you content.

If anyone can tell me the name of a content provider who sells good non exclusive teen content please tell me as I'm on a buying spree for the paysite.

Actually, no one mentioned names, but if you really want to run with this and defend content provider spam, that's fine by me, lol.

Boards shouldn't have to deal with spam of any kind. If your product is good other webmasters will recommend you. If you deal in an upfront manner, if you stick your spam to the announcement threads I doubt anyone would care. It's just the steady stream of bullshit posts that get a little too much.

Like that fool you hired, what's his name, and he went to every board asking if this content was milf content or not, he did it on every board, on some boards he posted the same thread twice, etc. Seriously, fire him and buy some advertising instead.

Also you make it like boards can't control this aggressive marketing...sure they can, they just ban you, and there goes your aggressive marketing sales vs. just participating with board members.

Actually, Sellmycontent did a rather nice board promotion on another board, club xstream promotes here and elsewhere. Have you checked the cost of advertising on GG&J? I think Jim handles that part of the board, maybe you should drop him a line and see if you can work something out. :D Then again, if you can get the milk for free, why buy the cow.

Greenguy 2006-04-19 06:11 PM

I have a totally different business model based on this thread. I don't see how I can exist without allowing content providers to spam |thumb

Paul - is your business less profitable than 2 or 3 years ago? GET IN LINE BEHIND THE REST OF US ASSHOLE!

There are a few words banned on the board & a few of them are content providers. I can easily change ever reference to your name to ******* with a few simple clicks.

If your business model now calls for you to be aggressive & spammy & "all about the sale" then this board is NOT for you.

I can't believe that you're the same person Jim & I talked to on the Radio Show last year.
