Radio show archive

From the last 2 radio archives I can only seem to download the first 25-30 minutes of the show.

Both the IE and Firefox downloader tell me that the last archive is 13MB in size while the previous ones were 20+MB.
I tried it on different computers at different locations, always the same result. Is it me or does anyone else sees this to?

I am usually on the phone with Greenie after the shows and he has been having trouble with the archives :)

Yeah - I have no idea what the fuck is going on with it. I use Sony's Sound Forge to record the show & I hadn't changed any of the setting since I installed it when I got this computer (18 months ago?)

The last few shows were not saving properly - if anyone has Sound Forge, you can see the levels & whatnot on of the file when you open it. The last few appeared to save properly, but when I open them, the last half of the show is missing (dead space, like it recorded silence)

It looks to be recording while the show is going on & it's not giving me any error messages :(

I did un-install & reinstall it last week, but that didn't seem to help things (plus I forgot how I set it up the 1st time, so I was back to the default settings, which probably made things worse)

I know a lot of people are shaking their heads wondering what the fuck I'm talking aobut, but I really do need to get a new system & different sound input & output cards & get the phone running thru the computer instead of just into it so that the sounds on the computer come thru the phone as well (like a real radio show)

I just have to find the time to get this set up properly.

I thought it had something to do with the black helicopters that were last seen flying over Buffalo.

I come back to the Chit Chat forum, see that Sparky has posted & my hopes of some wonderful solution or words of wisdom shot thru the roof!

:D

It fucked up again when I was saving it, but I did have another copy open & I succeeded in saving it as a wma file, so that's what you'll get until I can solve the problem :(

GG have you tried MS Media Encoder? I dont know what device you would need to record the phone the way you want to, but I'm pretty sure the encoder would handle it, as it's pretty much designed for some highend shit if needed. I'm having a hard enough time getting it to work on live video but sound is never an issue. It's nice to have so many bit rate choices for the stream. It will archive the show easy.

I believe this will fix your problem.

sorry for the short response earlier, I meant to post this url earlier.

The problem is with Sound Forge & I'll be damned if I'm gonna throw away a $400 program because it's missing a codec :D

I just have to tinker with it a bit.

juggernaut 2006-04-19 12:01 PM

$400, holy shit!! Yeah I would want that to work also. I don't know if this is even part of the issue and I'm not trying to give you more work here. But I have noticed when I attend the shows about 30 to 40 mins in I get disconnected and then the recorded show seems to take over, it plays for about 10 minutes and then restarts again.

MeatPounder 2006-04-19 01:58 PM

Yup the last few months that is a constant problem for me.
I'll be busy in the chat and it will dawn on me I already heard what I'm just hearing...lol

That's my wonderful Adelphia Cable Modem & their sucky connections (Verizon's new DSL will be here in 2 months)

WinAmp is what I use to broadcast & when it's disconnected, it does fire back up within 5 seconds, but I guess the feed starts back up again for some reason :(
