stop hotlinking of .mpg,.mpeg,.avi,.wmv???
Hello,
I am looking for info on how to stop theft of movie files. After trying a few variations of .htaccess I have yet to find an effective way to stop hot linking of movie files. Does anyone of you experts have a method that works?...thanks..webman|afro| |
I've been able to use htaccess for mpg files, but not for wmv files.
Here is a script that claims to do what you are looking for. http://www.antihotlinking.com/ I do not have personal experience with it since I my solution was not to use wmv files. |
I tried a cookie based script but it will not work if cookies are turned off. I was trying to find a script without the added expense. I need a free script that works.,am I looking for a miracle???thanks...webman

I don't think you can protect .wmv files unless you maybe imbed them into the page like many sponsor tours do but then you wouldn't get lsited. LOL

You can block hotlinkers with cookies and htaccess for literally any kind of file. Yes, people with java and/or cookies will be SOL but the way I look at it these people are likely not to be ones that would purchase anything from your sponsor(s) either.
The only other way I can think of would be to use PHP sessions to control access, but if you're building galleries or freesites that's going to likely cause you headaches with LL/TGP owners. |
