Da Vinci Code Numbers

After listening to all the interviews on Fox News talking about the world laughing at the movie and who no one will go see it, the numers are in and the critics, conservatives and butt plugs seems to be way off base.

I my opinion, the the critics, conservatives and butt plugs were all used as tools of the promotion of the movie. Not much direct marketing, but tons and tons of "oh no it is against god" rhetoric on TV news and in the papers and whatnot. All of these people saying "no no" pushed everyone to see it - same basic marketing as porn, if you think about it.

You can read more of the hype here:

Hype is a very powerful way to get people to pay attention... between this and Passion of the Christ, you can see an entire marketing plan played out.

I dont even want to see the movie now. I'm tired of it. There has been so much shit on the History channel and Discovery over the weekend it really put me off the film. Da Vinci this, Da Vinci that. It's real, it's fake. Whatever, it's a movie and I will wait for it to be on DVD next week and watch it in my house. They really pushed this one too much I think. Hell I never knew about OPPIE DAY before, now they are some evil clut that the government would have tried to take over long ago if not for their strong ties with the Vatican. See I know to much already.

Madonna never misses the point....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5006008.stm

The church is upset about Madonna on a cross to open her show... which is great publicity for a tour that many people know nothing about for a singer that they no longer care about... she knows exactly how to grab the strings of hype and frenzy and tug on them... and even with reduced power that comes from being a nutjob, she still pulls it off.

Interestingly enough .. i went to the DVC again today while spud went to X-MenIII for the 3rd time *rolling eyes*.. and i was shocked |shocking| to see that despite playing in 4 of the 16 theaters..it was packed..not 1 seat available.

Usually by the 2nd weekend the "new" has worn off.. unfortunately i didn't have any new revalations except that the trailer for The Omen was on.. i thought it was a bad movie when Lee Remick and Gregory Peck did it.. I don't see any improvement.

oh and we have "snakes on the plane" to look forward to.
