Netpond Cash Checks

Has anyone else had their bank reject a Netpond Cash check for being a "foreign item"?? I've deposited their checks before without incident but noticed on this recent one that the check was drawn on a UK bank but was in US dollars. What's up with that?!

Jim 2006-05-25 12:37 PM

I would bet it is a problem with your bank. We get checks from all over even if it doesn't say "US Dollars", the bank takes the deposit and does the conversion. Of course, there is a small fee :)

They don't have a US processor anymore, so they suggest you use epassporte if your bank won't take the checks (mine wouldn't).

Thanks guys. I'm sure it's my bank. Phillip at Netpond has graciously offered to send me a US dollar check. :) Guess I'll have to look into epassporte as a payment option.

I had that same thing happen to me a couple of months ago, so I just pulled the links & waited until they offered ePassporte payments.

Had the same problem with a couple of other programs as well - Spank Buxx comes to mind.

had their last cheque returned 'cause there was no date stamp on it. then I switched to epasspote.

My bank kicked it back and hit me with a returned fee.

Netpond Cash then paid me by ePassporte and even gave me my bank's return fee.

It can happen with some banks and its a quirky thing that sometimes banks will reject, sometimes won't. Have had it happen with many different sponsors, so I just moved them over to epassporte or wire and no hassles.

Checks are so last century ... I am amazed they are still so widely used :)

I like checks. Checks are good. If sponsors wanted to be really progressive, they'd offer direct deposit. Of course, if they can't send a simple 'last century' check without fucking it up, I doubt I'd trust them to deposit to my bank account correctly. I'm not a fan of epass and I'm not fond of sponsors who want to add yet another middle man.

I've not had any luck signing up with epassporte. I guess I just don't understand it. |confused|

Here's my bit of fun signing up for epassporte

Thanks for sharing your link Grandma. I've pretty much just given up but it's comforting to know it's not just me that had problems. |loony|

Got the same problem

I switched to Epassporte

Yum! Yes! I like checks too!

Getting the money into epass means only more trouble for me with getting it out of there. Checks have their potential problems, but at least they go right into the account where my bills are paid from.

Ms Naughty 2006-05-28 12:56 AM

Epassporte was worth it for me (which is why I persisted through the agonising clusterfuck that was signing up) because cashing foreign checks costs $10 each :(

ronnie 2006-05-29 08:46 PM

Some times it can be the teller, not that this is the case here. I had one teller give me grief over a sponsor check from Canada, even though it was through a US bank. Had cashed/deposited the same sponsor checks many times before and many times after. One teller, one time.

Just a few weeks ago I got back a Netpond check after three months - which I can blame my bank - the reason was the check was worded something like "debit"

Cleo 2006-05-30 09:42 AM

Put me on the list of I love getting paid by ePassporte for a number of reasons. I wish more of my sponsors offered this option.
