Dumb question from a LL's newb

I have only recently starting submitting site to LL's and most have been to GG. What I don't understand is why there isn't a LL's that is a revenue generator as well as traffic generator. If there is one I don't know about it.

From what I can see LL's are divided into niche's and in these niches you have a wide range of sites such as AVS, pay sites etc.

Lets say I'm a little "gg" |jester| but I only do paysites. So if one of my niche links lists looks like this
/softcore/CCBill
/softcore/Ibill
/softcore/Verotel etc etc....
Why can't the traffic comming from a webmasters site that links straight to /softcore/CCBill have an affiliate code in it? If that surfer I sent signs up at any of the CCbill sites I get the $'s.

And the same applies for the liks list owner. The surfers that leave the little "gg" pay sites links list to my pay site which is in the /softcore/CCbill niche gets the $'s as an affiliate if a sale occurs.

Is this a dumb idea and am I simplifying it to much?

hey NotThatKevin,
where is OZ??

as for your question, you've lost me on the traffic part.

for the most part, i think most webmaster resource site would have their Aff codes on all there links.

Kev,

... not sure if I got the picture you are painting.. but are you talking about listing pay sites and giving $ credit to webmasters that send traffic to your categories?

Most linklist owner list paysites..but use a partenrship code to list them.

DD

finnbear 2003-12-17 01:36 AM

If I understood right you want to submit your sponsor's pay sites to LL with your affiliate code?

In that case, let's say I'm an LL owner. Why would I list you? Where do you put my reciprocal link?

As a matter of fact I have a porn directory that lists only paysites, but all affiliate codes are my own...|bananna|

NotThatKevin 2003-12-17 01:39 AM

adc OZ is Australia :)

DD what I'm asking is if I send a surfer to say all your CCbill related pay sites LL's then my ccbill affiliate code should tag along.

The same is true for me submitting a CCbill pay site to your LL's niche. When one of your surfers selects mys site on your LL's then your affiliate code is tagged to the url so you get the sale.

I know LL's owners have banners to their preffered sponsors but wouldn't this generate more revenue for them as well as the site owner like myself?

NotThatKevin 2003-12-17 01:42 AM

finnbear I don't want to submit my pay site to your LL's with an affiliate code. You list my site as is but if a surfer clicks on the link on your site to get to my pay site your affiliate code should be tagged on to the url.

The same when a surfer click on your link on my pay site then my CCbill affiliate code should be transported to your site in case a sale occurs.

Am I talking crap here |jester|

finnbear 2003-12-17 05:47 AM

Do you mean I put a link to your paysite in my paysite?

BTW, I don't have any.

NotThatKevin 2003-12-17 06:37 AM

No finnbear that is not what I mean.

ross 2003-12-17 07:20 AM

Well dude, i'm as confused as everybody else it seems. But im usually confused. :)

To me what it seem youre saying is this:

Example: Joe submits a paysite to Bob's Links
A surfer browsing Bob's Links clicks on Joes sponsor link The surfer is now taken to the sponsor with Joe's code and Bob's code combined into one link.

To me, this goes against the whole purpose of becoming better at marketing and sales techniques. The whole purpose is to convince the surfer to click your sponsor code before he clicks someone elses.

Heres my suggestion:
Get your self a toplist script, fill it with your sponsor link codes, build a bunch of freesites, feed the toplist from your freesites.

You may make the sale on your freesites.
You may make the sale on the toplist.

But you arent gonna be makin any sales by getting other link list owners to put your sponsor codes on their list with no recip.

Or maybe i just dont understand what youre trying to do/say. And if thats the case, im sorry. But i tried.

finnbear 2003-12-17 07:44 AM

Couple of years ago I built link list where I listed all my sponsors paysites. Just a site names, nothing more.

I update it when I remember, delete dead links, put up new links, maybe add a new category.

Site is in three main categories: straight, gay and fetish. They all have sub categories.

I also send my 404 traffic there.

It sells. It's not any huge seller, but people really click the links and buy sometimes. usually ratios are 1:20 or 40, once 1:1, lol!

This site won't make me rich, but it's good for beer money. Easy to build, easy to keep up, and use small amount of BW.

I recommend. When you start it can only be 1 page if you don't have many sponsors. I have sign-up (and I do it every week) lots of sponsors just to put up their links in my LL.

Greenguy 2003-12-17 08:22 AM

I too am confused, but I think I may have it.

Are you asking if there is a way for me to get credit on all traffic I send to CCBill sites?

NotThatKevin 2003-12-17 09:10 AM

Greenie you are spot on :) Traffic that you send from your /processor/niche on link-o-rama

so your links list won't be only niche specific they will be
processor/niche specific.

Because I use CCbill on my pay sites the code of yours that I paste on my pay site doesn't just link to a niche like "blondes" but to /processor/niche. ie ccbill/blondes.

This means that a surfer coming from my pay site to your /ccbill/blondes list will enable me to get a sale if he joins any of the sites on /ccbill/blondes because my affiliate code is embedded in your code I pasted on my pay site. And this should work visa versa. Any traffic from ccbill/blondes should have your affiliate code as well. Not just your sponsor banners.

Is this possible or am I living in a dream world?

Ross sorry for confusing you mate |jester|

Greenguy 2003-12-17 09:17 AM

I think you're living in a dream world :(

That would be a very cool concemt, except for the fact that not all CCBill sites have a program & I think you have to be signed up to the program to promote it. CCBill would be the processor that could do it, since youc an do everythign on one accoutn number if you wanted.

iBill & Epoch require different account names for each program :(

Hell, if that was the case, I'd have all kinds of links up to paysites I had no direct affiliation with - LOL

I might even throw a CCBill cookie on your system when you entered the page :D

NotThatKevin 2003-12-17 09:33 AM

hehe throw all the cookies you want I have a sweet tooth ;)

The reason I was thinking of this is because I use CCbill as my main processor but I have Verotel and 2000charge as backup processors. The problem I have is that all my affiliates are signed up with their CCbill accounts and I can't switch to any of the others because the affiliates won't get the sale.

I asked Ray who I use for all my techie stuff and he thinks that there could be a way to check the referring site by taking the affiliate code (whatever it is. CCbill, Verotel or 2000charge) , look it up in a table and attach the relevant code for which ever script is being displayed on the join page so that my affiliate can get the credit. Having said this he did say that their are obstacles that he needs to look into.

If it could work on a pay site then it should be able to work on a LL's. Anyway sorry to start such a confusing thread. To make matters worse I posted it in the wrong forum. Sorry.

Dont be sorry bud. I was missing what you were sayin.

But i did give you a heck of an idea. Like finnbear said he to did the samething, virtually. Cheap on b/w and easy to make some sales on. Mabee not feed it with freesites but maybe call it an "Exclusive Primium Link Site/Toplist" and fillit with your sponsor codes, and a few of your close friends links so they will provide you with a small souce of traffic to the list. I havea couple of these goin now and they work great.

Take Care Bud

I like a guy whose thinking ouside of the box.
Im always lookinfr hardlink trades for link pop and such. pm me if youre at all interested.

Actually, I think you did post it in the right forum, just that when I see a title like that, I look for the "move this thread" button right away - LOL

It's back here in the main forum now where it belongs :)
