Happy Modem Seems Good Wednesday Morning :)
 

Good Morning :)
After all day yesterday of being without a modem or phone, it seems all is ok for now :) I have a ton of email to answer and who knows how many phone calls I missed. The cable guy went to the Time Warner tech page and left his logon and password on my PC :) So, I can check to see how many hours I have been up. It has been 11 hours and 23 mins :)

Anyway, as long as the modem stays up, I will be here all day.

Have had my share of modem troubles as well. Not in the past year though thank goodness. Very frustrating to say the least.

We have had some days where we would go down for a couple of hours but never like yesterday. The thing that worries me the most is the tech (who worked with my son on his first job) told me that they knew they would get expansion when they introduced Time Warner's 3 for 1 deal. Cable, phone and modem for $100/month. But, in our semi local area, they received over a million new subscribers in the past year. And yet, they have not upgraded their equipment. He told me it was only a matter of time before everything takes a shit if they don't upgrade.

But, as I said, I now have access to the tech only tools. And I can see the stress on their equipment from here. I am probably going to call sparky today to see what the numbers really mean :)

Today will be better than yesterday. I know this because I didn't wake up to a completely empty htpasswd file, or to a server that was throwing errors, or to an SQL db that wouldn't populate a TGP site.

Yeah, that was yesterday. It was an uphill battle but it's all better now. Good hosting with competent tech support is worth it's weight in diamond-inlaid platinum, I can tell you that.

Only good news yesterday was getting four checks for lifetime memberships. Makes you feel more loved somehow when someone sends you a nice check and says they want to stay forever. :D

I'd like to find a way to offer one-year and lifetime memberships within our affiliate program. Unfortunately CCBill doesn't offer the price points we need (195 and 295), so we've only tested those options on the non-affiliate tour so far. Surfers have to mail us a check to get those memberships, but some surfers seem willing to do that.

Stu - that's one of the wackiest things I've read in awhile! Wow, a party all their own. Now if we can get them to wear a brand or tattoo, or at least an armband or something... so we know who they are. I did like that they're also for "...free train travel for all."

I just noticed last night that Dish Network has NHLHD so I actually watched most of the game. I was looking for you :)

I started the day with high hopes for productivity but they've been shot down in short order. Hubby asked me to do one thing today, just write a check for a big load of dirt that was being delivered to level the back yard. Seemed easy enough, but what do you know.. the driver managed to bury the truck in my side yard. Not just a little.. right up to the rear axles. Can his boss come pull him out with the other equipment? Nope, already on another job. So now I'm being treated to stupid man tricks as this guy tries to figure out how to get unstuck. I guess afterwards he can deliver another load of dirt to fill in the trenches he's digging. |angry|
I should set up a webcam for this.

Stu - If that politic party ever gets acknowledged (not like that's ever going to happen) I think we're going to have to build a wall between your and my country. Ofcourse I'll make a secret passage so you can come visit from time to time :)

I'm taking my cat to have her stitches removed this morning. She is locked up in the carrier right now and very upset about it.

An old friend stopped by my house last night drunk riding her scooter. She no longer drives a car because of too many DUIs so no longer has a driver's license. Not really wanting a drunk in my house but not knowing what to do with her I left her on my couch watching a movie while I went back to working in my office. I came out of my office only to find out that she had found some beer in my fridge left over from a party and that she had drank last of the bottles and now was going to get on her scooter and go buy more. I told her that she was way too drunk to drive so she asked me for a ride home. I went to get my shoes and take a piss and when I came out to give her a ride found that she had left on her scooter. I guess she is now either in jail, dead, or passed out some place so she isn't answering her phone. I hate drunks…

Just a day of working for me and running errands. I do have a lot more room in my fridge now that all the beer is gone.

Okay that's a much ickier start then my day.. but i'm pretty sure my ick is going to last longer |jester|
