Killing off sponsor-specific pages

I'm in search of opinions on whether or not I should kill off some indexed pages which contain content and ads for non-converting sponsors. I'm not talking about free sites or galleries that other people are linked to; just my personal content pages on one of my sites. Some of the pages are fairly old and I get decent Google images traffic to them, but it's wasted traffic at this point since I can never make a sale from it.

For example, I just discovered this evening that my old CCBill links to DirtyDaisy.com are 404ing. I don't know how long they've been shit, but I'd assume it happened when she went to some other program awhile ago. Would have been nice to know when it happened, of course. |angry|

Plus I have another sponsor who keeps their skim set too high since they went to their bells & whistles stats program, so I'd like to shove some pages up her skinny fucking ass too. (I'm seriously considering yanking almost everything that's not CCbill - I'm that pissed at this point.)

Back to the point - should I just be happy with the minimal SE traffic that may find it's way to my other pages and leave those sale-less pages up, or should I toss them in a trash can and set them aflame? My primary concern is the affect on SEs when one tosses indexed pages. With the pages I'm concerned about, I can't simply swap out sponsors due the pages being fairly well SEOd.

I am so with you on this one. Matching up a couple received checks today I realized my "Waiting to be Paid" folder was thick. So I did a quick check if they were all on ccbill how much money am I waiting for. The last ccbill check was from week ending 6/3 so I totalled up before that date. I know this is not alot to some but it was just over $900. Now 30% I have made my limit but it takes them up to 6 weeks to get me that check, 30% I will make limit in the next month hopefully and the absolute F'ing pisser is the last 30% thats in the who knows if I will ever see that money. |banghead| To some this is not alot and I am okay with this most times but it definitely would be nicer in my pocket Now!

I am not an seo guy by any means but could you remove the links to Daisy and add some text thats says Daisy site is no longer but you should really check out "Fill In Blank" or just a big link stating "Check Out Whoring Wives Milf Collection" or whatever is similar to the sites you have that are dead.

For me last year I panicked with 2257. God do I hate to admit that one. Removed a bunch of galleries in haste. 6 weeks later I realized I was getting hits still from search engines. I do nothing with 404 pages just the standard, page is not available go to index. So I put the pages back, some without any of the images. They are still listed in some engines today and I had 2 sales from this, broken image pages, last month alone. Go figure |crazy|

Just a thought

Are you getting SE traffic that's looking for those sites? Or are them coming in off generic keywords?

If it's #2, I'd just swap out the ads & try to keep the text on the pages as close to the current version as possible.

If it's #1, you could always alter the pages to read how horrible those sites are & that the surfer should try out a different paysite :D

That's some fuckin awesome advice Greenie |thumb

Having made the mistake of removing a bunch of old stuff a long time ago, I would look for every other option of how to harvest that traffic. SE traffic is too hard to come by these days, and removing pages always seem to have more of an effect than expected |banghead|

I think we have a winner. |thumb The traffic is from surfers searching for "Dirty Daisy". So maybe it's time to turn those gallery pages into review pages. I received an email today from program that was, at one time, working with her and had her site briefly in their portfolio. My CCBill links still worked while she was with them. She is now with someone else and it appears that they have fucked the links. I have others I need to do something about too, so maybe I'll work on sending those surfers to a similiar site.

I like the way you think.|greenguy|

Bingo! Keep the text that is getting you listed in the serps and twist and turn it like you were a newsreporter or politician and make them lust for site "b" |headbang|

I went back to mostly ccbill sponsors at the end of last month. I had a dismal run with some nats sponsors...so bad that I ran back to my ccbill sponsors and promise never to offend the ccbill gods again.

Oddly enough, my links to Daisy seem to work now. Maybe the new owners read this board. Of course, they're using that stats package which I refer to as 'the N word', so I won't be joining. Looks like I have plenty of editing to do. May the SEs take pity on me...
