Wordpress admin index.php error

When I try to load http://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin/index.php (Dashboard) I get an "Cannot find DNS" error. My server tech (or what he's supposed to be and no it's not Sparky :D ) says it has something to do with this RSS feed not loeading: http://feeds.technorati.com/cosmos/r...tner=wordpress

So the whole page gives an error, he also told met that the $cache_status gives "MISS" instead of "HIT" or "STALE" so he figures it's something in the wordpress settings.

All the other pages in the admin load just fine it's just the index.php

Anyone?

in index.php try removing the @ from this line, it'll tell you what the error is.

$rss = @fetch_rss('http://feeds.technorati.com/cosmos/rss/?url='. trailingslashit(get_option('home')) .'&partner=wordpress');

My guess is that the server you are on cannot resolve that name for whatever reason. It is interesting that recently there was a registrar change on that record, but, they have enough nameservers that I cannot imagine why it cannot resolve.

At worst, try

$rss = @fetch_rss('http://209.237.226.237/cosmos/rss/?url='. trailingslashit(get_option('home')) .'&partner=wordpress');

or comment out the line completely. its a counter that shows wordpress how many times you have logged into the admin and does the version check to see if you are running the most current version.

I believe that is querying Technorati for the info that gets plugged into the "Latest Activity" sidebar of your admin. That's the block that tells about the incoming links to your blog from other blogs whichTechnorati has indexed.

serves me right for doing two things at once. yes, that is the incoming links counter from technorati.

the bug in phpbb does the version check.

must... get... brain... aligned....

So if it's a "Cannot find DNS" thing this is probably a DNS issue between the 2 servers and should get resolved in a matter of time?
