Stupid newbie questions here
 

1.) Description field:
- how many characters do you make your descriptions? (30 - 50?)
- do you put a period at the end of your descriptions or leave it out?
2.) Do you get a funky error message when you submit to linkalotapuss?
3.) How long does it usually take to get listed after you submit?
4.) Do you submit to just 1 category mainly or do you try to submit to a different category every submit?
5.) How many characters do you make your title? (under 30 characters?)

1) I have no idea how many characters, do what feels natural. Take a look at free-site descriptions already listed. From memory, your description was fine. Even if it is fine, expect some linklists to change or rewrite that description.

IMO, use correct punctuation in your description. I've yet to run into a script that breaks with a period in the description, yet I know of a few that edit the descriptions just to add the period.

2) Yes I have.

3) Depends. Small linklists up to 72 hours. Some but not all large linklists can take from 4-8 months.

4) I suggest working with 2-3 categories you are comfortable with. No LL owner wants to see you submit to the same category with the same sponsor every day. Besides, diversified categories can help keep you out of a sales slump if one niche goes cold for some reason.

5) One LL I submit to limits the title to 3 words, so all my titles are 3 words, I don't count characters. If I didn't have that limit I would consistently use 4 words.

Cool thanks Preacher :) I feel like Im monopolizing the newbie section here... Follow up questions: Do you submit to linkalotapuss regularly? Do you get that error very often?

Preacher's answers were good. Here's some more input:

Description Length - I use one sentence of 50-70 characters with a period at the end.

LinkALotaPuss - I started getting error messages back in April/May. I posted a question regarding the submission error on their official thread over at Wasted Webmasters. But the owner never responded to that or other posts. So I removed them from my submit list.

Submissions - A majority of LL with list you within 1-3 weeks. A few LL have a big backlog and can take a couple months. There's one or two LL that take almost a year.

Categories - LL owners don't want one person to dominate a category. I would recomend finding a couple niches. I currently use 5-6 categories.

Title Length - Same answer as Preacher. I use 3 words (due to LL rules), but I'd prefer to use 4. I don't count the number of characters.

Thanks for the info guys. linkalotapuss = just removed them from my submit list :( too bad. I think thats a good link list. I see links to it all over the place (mostly javascript links though).
