Max Size of movies on free sites ?
 

Hello,

I was wondering what is approximately maximum size of movies on free sites ? ;)

I resized movies to 320x240 (20sec) and files weight is around 3-3,2 MB.

Is is too much ? ;)

uh 2,98 MB right now :)

Depends on how fast your server is, but I think 3 Mb is on the big side. Personally I never go over approx. 1.5 and try to stay under 1 Mb.

Usually i'm using movies max 1,5MB but right now i've got some movies and i cannot resize them more (320x240) . Can i compress movies using some simple program ? ;)

I have no problem reducing 2+ megabyte files (both mpeg & WMV) to less 600-700 kb with windows movie maker with good results. The downside is that you'll have to live with the hotlinking vulnerability of WMV files. There are some free proggies out there that reduce mpegs, but most people (including myself) seem to be confused by them.

Check out VirtualDub and TMPEG encoder!
The file size primary depends on the bitrate you use to compress the movies. I would recommend 550-650 kbit/sec.
