Lots of snow here just now, but weatherman thinks it's going to rain water at Christmas and temperature is going to plus.

Your weather sounds like ours - it was really cold all weekend & then yesterday, it gets up to 45 & all the snow melted. Now we have to pray for a storm on Wednesday night so we can have a White Christmas |santa|

Heh heh, interesting at least. It's appr. as big as Great Britain, but only some 5 million people.

We have Lappland where the sun don't go down in summer at all. It's sunny 24/7. There are people who still earn their living keeping reindeers. Reindeer casserole is very good. If you ever come to Finland, I cook it to you.

Santa Claus lives in Finland, in Korvatunturi, in Lappland.

Nokia has built a GSM phone with camera and GSM phone with game console. Most people here own a GSM phone.

EDIT: I almost forgot Nokia has also build a GSM phone that have television in it.

Finns drink a lot of booze. We only have one booze shop, Alko, owned by our government. We have villages where nearest Alko is 20-30 miles away.

Prices are high. Especially booze price (and cars). It will go down next year, but at the same time Estonia goes to EU. At summer time you can go to Tallinn from Helsinki in 1 hour, almost. Slow ship takes 4 hours. In Estonia all prices are cheap. As EU citizen you can bring anything you want from other EU country and custom can't even search you - except if they think you have done the crime. They can't use that as excuse, because you can sue them in EU court. You will win.

This is a crazy country, but I love it. I'm an patriot. Every winter I want to move somewhere warm. Some day I even might do that. But I will come back every summer.

Half my ancestors are from Norway from what I was told, another very cold place from what I understand.

I'll have to pass on the Reindeer casserole since I'm a vegetarian, but I do own a GSM phone. :D

Yeah, Norway is another cold, cold place also. They own a part of Lappland too. We used to own a summer cottage in Lappland, on the banks of Teno river. On the other site of the river is Norway. Russia is not far way from our site. It's the best place in Finland to fish salmon. Only those who own property on Teno banks can fish. Nearest village is some 40 kilometers away - and first booze shop is in Ivalo - 200+ kilometers away. That's some 120+ miles.

In Norway all prices are even higher than in Finland. I was in Oslo once. It's strange place. Difficult to tell exactly what it is, but I felt that clock had gone backward and I was somewhere in the 70's again...

In Finland Irish Coffee cost you $5 or 6. In Sweden $10 and in Norway almost $15.
