link list script

hi all naturally a link list script takes care of submits and email reply

but what other time saving things does it do and how about listing your own sponsor sites with your codes in them

what do you link people like most about your scripts?

also with me starting my link list would i be harder to install one now or later or it dont matter

thanks

If you start a link list without any type of script then add one later you will not be able to incorporate the links you already have into the script. Going from script to script is no problem usually but going from adding links by hand in the html to a script is not possible other than just keeping those links above the new script generated links.

Harder to install later

It would definately be harder to install a script later. The script I use now for my LL is a good one, but it took some time to figure out how to design and make it work the way I want. I'm still working on it|lightsabe
Anyhoo... You are definately better off starting with a script, and I would suggest investing some money. There are a ton of free scripts out there, but many times you get what you pay for. Just my two cents worth|bat|

Richard (and shortly MrMaryLou) can extract your links, titles & descriptions from normal html pages (Assuming you have them in there in some sort of uniform html coding)

Trust me on this :)

greenguy what do you mean by uniform html

and what will the script do to the links as i am new to link scripts how does it work... does the script add the links

also about how long could you go with out one and how many links is to many if you get a couple of hundred submits a day you would want one

your up early i been up all night fucken with old 266 pentium to work for a xmas gift to mother in law and just got the bugs worked out i hate old puters they can kick your ass anyway i quit building free sites for awhile i got so burn out that i hated frontpage but i am getting the urge to start working on pornoplenty again i got a good tpg page going

anyway you and your family have a nice christmas and whoever else reads this
thanks

By "uniform html" I mean that you links are not scattered all over the place - sorta like:

Linked Site Title : Description
Linked Site Title : Description
Linked Site Title : Description
Linked Site Title : Description
Linked Site Title : Description
Linked Site Title : Description

That's basically how mine were when Richard extracted them from my pages (about 2000 links if I remember correctly)

As far as how the scripts work, you have an admin where you enter info & that info is then put onto your pages by the script.

I did my links for about 2 years without a script :)

2 years without a script? Wow. I suppose back then there wasn't a lot around.

plateman, a script updates Every page adding the links to the proper areas of your site with the click of one wonderful button.

I started a link list because I won a script from GreenGuy many years ago. LOL

PS: It was the best decision that I have every made.

Ramster - I got my copy of Link Admin around the end of 98, so yes, it was 2 years without a script :D

Oh man - I remember editing all my pages in TextPad, having a long list of "fill in the blanks" html coding on a NotePad - running my linkbot & having all the categories open in TextPad & then searching for the sites that needed to be removed - moving sites that were 7 days old by hand to the category pages.

Good times :D

There are a few scripts/proggys out there that can extract links and or descriptions from pages - worth a look around at the script directories.

Doing a public LL without a script now would be madness:)
