Hi guys and gals

Thanks

I'm not the expert, but I did look into it a short while back. I plan to build one in the near future.

From what I understand it's like a mini paysite. You build a site and protect it with a third party AVS program. Access to the mini paysite requires the surfer to sign up with the AVS program, which pays you on new signups.

Rizzo, you still hanging around here?

Xallow 2006-09-11 04:06 PM

So You use their software (scripts etc.) to build a site and they pay you for signups?

virgohippy 2006-09-11 04:15 PM

Anyone else, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but:

You build the site. You're responsible for the content, advertising, tour pages, members area, etc... it's all at your control. The AVS program handles the credit card processing.

If someone buys access to the AVS program, they get a password. With that password the surfer now has access to all sites that use the AVS system, including yours.

You get paid whenever someone signs up with the AVS system.

From what I've been told, AVS rebills can be nice. :)

You're pretty much right Virgo, except for the bit of having total control over content and advertising. AVS's have rules about what type of content you can use, how many banners you can have, etc., but if you follow them it's still a very good business, and the rebills are great!
There are 2 types of AVS sites Premium and regular, regular sites you can make much easier than free sites and only need about 20 pics. They $15-25 a signup no recurring. http://www.lipsdick.com/blondabuse/ is one that has about 30 pics inside and pays $25.
Premium ones are the best though, they have to be a little better designed with about 300 pics and pay $10-15 recurring, whith a good niche members stay forvever. http://www.hotwetvagina.com/pussy/ is one.
It used to be that damn near everyone was doing them but when AdultCheck fucked everyone over a lot of people dropped out. I've still got around 300 of them.

Although you need to hire someone if you cannot do at least a semi-pro design, you might find these days that the modern style of AVS - video-only AEN (adult entertainment network) - is a better bet. And you don't have content, hosting or 2257 to worry about.

Deluxepass.com would be my recommendation...

Oh yeah... I've gotten so used to rules being everywhere with everything, it didn't occur to me that it'd be worth mentioning. |loony|

Hey Everyone,
I've seemed to have answered quite a few of these questions over the past week, and it's a good sign that there are AVS systems doing well.

Depending on what content you have, or what type of traffic you draw will help figure out what program works best for you. I would also recommend trying a few. I would try a free sytem, a premium, and a video sytem, like deluxe pass, or screw.

The reason is the average surfer doesn't buy just one site, especially when a free one is an option, and if they browse and join more than one, you have really benefitted. Make sure the system you use has a program in place that has cookies attached to the surfer so you get credit days after they have left your tours.

If they are looking at specific niche type content, they are more likely to bookmark the sites that have what they are looking for. It is especially important to have the tour and/or join pages keep the theme you are selling. If you have tranny site, for example, make sure you don't have teens on the join page. Most systems will allow you to customize your tours and join pages.

Lastly, on your mini site, make sure you brand your own site well. Have content that shows your urls, and watermarks are great, even if only on one pic. Visual marketing works. The idea of an AVS, is to sell to it's existing members as well. Make sure you track who is sending you back traffic.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

This is true..... we run two of the largest AVS sites out there right now: www.freenetpass.com and www.xxxsexticket.com. Both still do very well for webmasters and they both contain tutorials inside the webmaster area that give you step by step instructions for what you need to do incase you wish to look.

Or feel free to contact me about any questions you have :)

So basically I sign up with a program I like

Make a small site with some content I have bought (and make sure it is watermarked)

Make a Tour where I also promote some of the other sites that are in the "AVS system"

Let the AVS guys handle the billing stuff

and I am ready to go?

How do You get traffic to Your AVS site then? submit it to LL's that accept AVS sites?

The same way you would get traffic to any of your sponsors. Free sites, tgp, links from hubs, etc. :)

Another small thing is when someone has bought a membership on another AVS site that's uses the same AVS as your sites that surfer can also enter any site in the AVS's network including your site. So not every surfer that surfs your member area and uses your bandwith is making you money. Ofcourse there's always the X-sales :)

Fonz is right, the X sales make it worthwhile though, for a couple of reasons.
1) Everyone who gets in for free has a cc.
2) Everyone who gets in for free has bought porn online for free in the past.
You just can't get more qualified traffic than that |bananna|
About getting traffic I get almost all of mine from my hub which is full of my sites from damn near every AVS going. I'm sure I sell to a lot of people who have an AVS membership with one company, but just can't get into the site they really want because it's with a different company ;)

Xallow 2006-09-12 03:35 PM

Ok, thanks guys, I think I get it now. Most definately something I will have to look into some more though, sounds like it can potentially be very profitable

Well until about 2000, yes. You could easily double your ID sales income with upsells. But since then, total traffic to AVS programs has dropped dramatically and the number of sites has increased many times over. The rules on upsells have got tougher while the program operators have become more aggressive with their own promos.

I haven't put up an AVS site in close to 5 years because by then my upsell income was already down to 10% of my ID sales.

People really should distinguish between free-ID sites like SexKey, old-school AVS like Cyberage, and video-only AEN. Despite superficial similarities, they are quite different business models and the same traffic, marketing, etc doesn't work for all three groups.

On the subject of upsells, for example (although some may disagree), I always regarded upsells on the free-ID sites as pretty much a bonus and looked to ID's for the bulk of my income from them. On the old-school AVS, as already noted, once upsells were half my income, while on the new AEN's, there are no upsells at all.

The AEN's on the other hand all have built-in features allowing you to have your own affiliates and retention is in the same ball-park as the old-school AVS. Retention is not - unless the game has changed - a factor with the free-ID programs, because you get a one-time payment.

I am so out of date as regards the free-ID programs, I cannot usefully comment on them. Deluxe Pass, Jans Webring and Porn Access I can recommend to anyone who has design skills or access to them, because that (and a healthy dose of traffic) is the key to success with the video AEN's and they can work very well.

Old-school AVS I have a hard time being objective about. I was lucky and only lost small change over the disgusting behavior of Adult Check and the webmasters who stayed with them. But exactly when you would have expected Cyberage and NetVerifier to notch it up a bit to take advantage of AC's scam, they behaved as if, with the competition gone, they didn't need to bother any more. Ever since they have just cruised along on their declining traffic, letting the script kiddies keep churning out more sites every day. I know exactly how people who are already established with them make money. But it is very hard to sincerely recommend them to anyone new to the business.

SheepGuy 2006-09-12 09:23 PM

Jayeff, I know what you mean. I use the free AVS's mostly as ways to promote my hub and other stuff, but I do list them on the hub and they make a few sales. I have yet to try the AEN stuff, but I'm going to look into it. I can't deal with Jan though if it's the same Jan the Man formerly of Certifier.
I didn't lose much with AC either because all of my eggs weren't in one basket, and though my sales are declining with all AVS's except ProAdult where I really can't upsell much because of their rules. Retention is great though.
I still like the Gold/Platinum/Pro/Quantum model because it forces me not to get lazy and I put a lot more time into promoting them and that pays off for some sites, not all.
It is a tricky biz for someone new tho, and you have to have your own traffic to do well, but with me it's pretty much on autopilot while I get into other things. And because I'm used to it I can put together a premium AVS site in less time than it would take me to make a freesite that would pass on LOR

Xallow 2006-09-13 03:24 AM

What did these Adult Check guys do?

Fonz 2006-09-13 03:50 AM

AdultCheck changed their business model to only working with their top 300 or so most succesful webmasters. They just dropped all other webmasters that were promoting sites using the AdultCheck AVS system. lots of people who had a nice monthly income using AdultCheck saw their earnings disappear like snow in the sun.

Xallow 2006-09-13 06:08 AM

Man that sucks, I would be pissed off if it were me that happened too. Just shows me again that I shouldn't put all my eggs in one basket

I have only built one AVS site but it did do very, very well. It was back in the day and there was only 1 AVS but it was sweet. Back when I started my first adult site, jamesandvictoria.com, I posted that you could find pictures of my lovely wife on her AVS site. Damn, people flocked to it and we made almost $20k, the first month :) That was with 5 pictures.
