real name or board name

When I submit a freesite, should I use my real name or do I use my name that I use on the boards?

Fonz 2006-09-13 04:18 AM

Use the name you use on the boards, people will recognise that name and it might get your sites accepted a little easier.

And use the same submit name and email every time, even if you submit a site on another domain.

I am glad I decided to use the name I use. I have only had to change it once from James to Jim :)

For some reason, I like real names. But I agree with Fonz especially if you are submitting to linklists that frequent this board. Really, stick with the name you have whenever you submit anything to anyone.

Yeap, I agree with guys. Use your boards name.

I certainly wish I could change "quest" to Ben :)

When I had signed up to GG&Jim the name Ben was took,
though I have not seen the user name used.

Jim, Is it possible? :D

Ben

Unfortunately for me I had been submitting for awhile using my real name which is Robert. It was taken when I signed up so thats why I went with JustRobert.

I have had many nicks and when I see old friends they usually call me that nick and have to remind them that I am just Robert now, get it ;)

The other thing is to use an email from a domain. When I started 5 yrs ago doing tgp they wanted your isp email. Easy to change a domain harder to change your isp, at least thats what they told me back then. My isp was and still is msn.com(my dial up back up). This was before they had free hotmail accounts. Many think I am now using a free account and will not list site |banghead| so I have to send emails (hate doing that) telling them this is an isp account. Some accept it, thanks MrYum, others do not. Thankfully many larger lists have always accepted it. :D

Jim, I like knowing someone's real name too. It's an implied trust thing, I think.

I got my own easily recognizable domain name for handling emails. :D

Yup, very important |thumb

And using your board name helps reviewers know who you are...definitely to your benefit to do so :)
