The Optimum Free Site

Hi Everybody,
I have been reading the comments and rules for free sites. I noticed GG has a free site training module planned. I was thinking it might help to see some examples of what are considered optimum free sites.

So here is the idea. Post a link here, to the best free site that you have seen, not your own :) This way we can see some great sites to set some good examples for everyone. A picture paints a thousands words or in this case a free web site.

Thanks everybody |bananna|

I would think a 'picture in this case' would create a thousand stolen free-site templates. |badidea|

I agree. While it's a good idea in theory DaveE, I'm afraid some lazy bums would just steal and submit. :(

Back when I was still attending "The Freesite Builders University of Virgohippy" my instructors insisted I dig through the trenches, and study the freesites listed on various link lists.

The course work was difficult! Not only was I expected to find decent freesites, but to analyze them, and ascertain their merits and flaws! 4 page essays written in HTML were not uncommon.

But I graduated, and now I have all the tools necessary to create and design my own sites without any assistance!

The optimum free site is the one that obey the rules of all linklists it wants to get listed on. The design doesn't mean everything, it's just a part of it.

Also, the optimum free site is the one that will also sell and make you money, not just get listed on linklists for nothing.

Thanks Yum. |roses|

But the real praise should go to all my teachers:

Mr. Hairymuf, who taught me to embrace the natural, not just because it's easier, but because it's beautiful. Mrs. Squirtingscreamer, who was always so quick to point out when I needed to just let go, and enjoy the process. Mr. Cumontits, you were the most inspirational person I've ever met when it came to the creative use of body fluids. And last, but not least, Ms. Hasapenis... what can I say? I've yet to meet another teacher as surprising as you.

Lol!

Soon enough... I'm nearly done with my little coding project... at least that's what I keep telling myself. |shocking|

Grand Theft Site Template

I would think if somebody wanted to steal templates they wouldn't have to try very hard, links sites are full of them.

I thought it was a nice idea to give a bit of recognition to some of the better designers and show newbies what to aspire to.

I never heard of trying to hide a website before seems dumb to me. but I'm just a newbie. |loony|

Ahh, but these particular freesites would be showcased and easy picking if posted in a thread.

Sure, freesites listed on the link lists are open targets for the poachers, but posting freesites in a thread just places a flashing neon sign on those freesites listed.

Maybe the owners of the freesites don't want their work to appear anywhere other than on the link list? It's one thing if someone posts their own work or work from that of someone that they have permission to post on their behalf, but to just randomly start posting peoples freesite designs could potentially piss some people off for whatever reason(s).

A final comic note is that though your intentions were good, you should know that every few months it seems like somebody posts a variation of your request under a new nick and is soon revealed to be a cheater who thinks they're clever.

The last just not too long ago was a designer who was quickly caught out and the row it caused went on for several pages.

People want to help you understand the rules, apply the technology, improve your skills. But, like any industry nobody wants to give up trade secrets on "the best" or "most profitable" anything!|santa|
