Have you ever wondered how many folks bitch about the controlling party yet are not registered to vote. Makes you want to say 'if you do not excerise your right to vote then shut the fuck up."

Well, I finally got speakers and watched it...very good.
Speaking of your point Chop, I am very proud of my number 2 Son who never gave a rat's ass about politics. We had a discussion 2 days ago and he has actually researched it and has seen the light. My number 1 son has always been interested. I think that may be one good thing Bush has done for this country. He may have woken up the younger voters that piss and moan yet don't vote. At least, that is my hope.

Before 9/11 I remember hearing a lot of older folks complain that my generation was too inactive politically - that we were so burnt juggling our responsabilities, and so spoiled from our "instant gratification" electronic toys, too few of us felt any reason to get involved in anything.

I can't tell if it's more than however many years ago, but I do notice college students, and their friends, talk politics pretty often, and passionately too. I guess it's pretty easy for a group of people with different backgrounds and perspectives to talk politics when everyone agrees on one thing: Bushinism = Badinism.

Seems to me talking initiates thinking and thinking initiates voting. :)

Your post got me thinking Hippy, America has gone back to days I thought my children and grandchildren would never have to face. When I was a kid we used to have air raid drills in school and I remember being pissed off at my father for a couple years because he wouldn’t build us a bomb shelter. By the time I got into high school the cold war was still in the news but a war against the commies didn’t seem eminent and the bay of pigs was ancient history, we had Vietnam to worry about. We talked about politics and the war a lot and did not trust anyone over thirty (they didn't have to worry about the draft). Collage age kids should be taking an active roll in politics, their the prime age to be drafted.

I've heard the "don't trust anyone over thirty" kinds of remarks before, but never fully understood just how meaningful they might have been... until just now. |sad|
