Google Algorithm Has Change for Porn Keywords

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=anal+sex

"Anal Sex" and many more keywords are not pointing to adult sites.

I notice a surge in traffic from Google but thought it was a fluke, maybe not according to this article.
http://seoblackhat.com/2006/11/21/free-porn/

A major shift is happening.

"lesbian sex" has been line that for a while now - I remember last year I was #1 and #2-10 were "legit" sites - like a link to amazon, a link to a real lesbian site (not porn) and a lot of other non-porn sites.

"xxx" has been like this for a long time as well, with all the .xxx domain stuff & the movie coming up.

It depresses me, but if you look back over time, they've been doing this for at least a year now (but not on such a massive scale)

Google is getting greedy.

I had been #2 for the query "thumbz" (granted, not much traffic) but it was nice to be number one for a few days, but of course now I have dropped to at least page two. Interestingly though they have my old index page listed, eg the title / description information and I know they have my new info indexed.

What bugs me is that they already have a "safe search" option but yet the filtering is occuring even with safe search off.

Isn't the safe search function the default.

How so?

Soooo... where does one go to get decent targetted traffic these days?

Link Lists :D

Pusher 2006-11-25 02:35 PM

OK - fair enough...but where does a link list go to get traffic :)

Greenguy 2006-11-25 03:00 PM

Even if a Link List doesn't get a shitload of SE traffic, it's probably still the best (next to a niche specific TGP) as far as niche specific traffic, regardless of the amount.

atariFu 2006-11-26 04:19 PM

senator_x: safe search is the default but I have mine turned off :) And they still filter (facist pigs!)

Anyway since there are an awful lot of keywords they would have to filter, I did a search for 'mature' and mature-post.com is still on top, a TGP. A query for 'porn' and then 'thumbz' says that the new filtration is still in effect.

Just out of interest here are my top ten queries (out of over 100,000) of the past few months and their search volumes.

12307 mature
6645 teen
5258 anal
5123 lesbian
4740 shemale
4210 fisting
4177 hairy
3977 granny
3762 interracial creampies
3618 handjob

A lot of my traffic comes from google, but none of the popular keywords, I"ll let you guys know if I see any difference in convoluted porn queries.

SheepGuy 2006-11-27 01:57 AM

Same day google boosted me to PR 6 my rating for "cunts" dropped way back, still have "young cunts" and a few other good variations but I'd trade the higher PR for the higher keyword ranking (#1) anytime.
When someone is searching for cunt or cunts, odds are pretty good they're not looking for dictionary definitions or the history of the word.
So much for being subtle |huh

You think affiliates are being hurt by Google's changes, imagine how the adult sponsors are being affected!

Pusher 2006-11-28 01:25 AM

Google's stock price DROPPED 4% today...couldn't happen to a nicer search engine :D

ronnie 2006-11-28 11:23 AM

Maybe some of it makes sense from Google's end. Not every one that searches for "Lesbian" is looking for porn, or even "Lesbian Sex" for that matter, though the later is probably more porn surfers. In that article and as others have said, refined porn searches work better, or give more adult results. Maybe it's as if the surfer has to convince G they really are looking for porn before they get the right results?

Maybe in the long run this could be better for adult sites, less traffic but more targeted at porn? Although I've lost traffic from this new big change, in looking over stats, sales are not that far off, and so far it's not just rebills making up the difference. Maybe we'll see better ratio's?

We all know G could care less if we get their traffic, their end goal is to give surfers the best results, the most relevant results.

This article handles about the issue discussed in this thread.

CaptainJSparrow 2006-11-30 09:23 PM

I'm not buying what that thread is selling. I've seen Google deliver bad results like this in the past and I've seen them either do a big re-dance fairly quickly (within a few weeks) or have the daily flux take care of it. Just look at the term that was mentioned above, lesbian sex. A week ago it was delivering a bunch of spam and re-directs. Now, most of the results in the top 10, across all of the data centers that I can find, are now delivering porn results. Now terms like blowjobs are still delivering total BS, but I'd wager that over the next few weeks we'll start seeing better results there as well.
