askimet comes standard with WP2.0 and higher or you can download any of the ones listed here. I've been told that Spam Karma is the bomb too but haven't tried any others since askimet seems to work.

If you have mod security on your server, you can download the comment spam blacklist set of rules which will stop a lot of the more common comment spammers

im a big fan of spamm karma, but im going to check out that comment spam blacklist for some of my more personal blogs

The drawback with Akismet is that commercial sites are supposed to pay. If you don't pay or choose the lowest cost option, the Akismet people openly state that your blog's calls on their database will be given a lower priority.
I don't like relying on third-party machines in any case (even though Akismet themselves have a good reputation), so I use both Bad Behavior and Spam Karma. They overlap to an extent, but also handle slightly different things and/or in different ways. SK has the particularly useful feature of closing comments for old threads, which is one of the most effective ways of killing automated spam. Between these two, I get to keep comments open, unmoderated and rarely see any spam. |

i have over 200 spam posts on my 10 blogs... |
I have set wordpress so I have to approve every comment..that appears to be the way I have to do it to make sure nothing slips through.

10-15 is nothing, even 200 is not much, I turned all mine off because I was getting tons. I really need to get them back on and some anti-spam stuff in place.
