long review time

I was wondering. Some LL are months behind on reviewing freesites.
Lets say LL is 5 months behind. So why not to stop accepting submissions for 5 months and then come to normal? Nothing to loose neither for LL owner nor for submitter. Its same if i submit freesite A now and get reviewed after 5 months or i submit that freesite A after 5 months and get reviewed fast.

Where's Stuveltje? I think she does reviews on lists with long queues.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but some lists keep a long queue because it helps sift out the "changers" from the "build and forget" submitters - seperating long-term freesite builders from short term, cheating traffic stealers.

It's a way of doing business.

thats a good point, but not all LL does that for this reason, some of them actually want to make it shorter :)
btw how long is at Stuveltje's then? :)

Time is the greatest filter. ;)

I can use one of my lists as example of another reason. I believe Filthy Earl's queue is back to June right now. Why, you ask. Well, Earl has very little traffic and is thusly a low priority. Those who continue to submit to it know that Earl is way behind. (all partner submitters) I log into the admin from time to time and add some links and I continually tinker with the site itself. I'm doing a slow rebuild and, when it's complete, I may sell it off to the lowest bidder.

Why don't I just shut down sumbissions until I'm caught up? Well, do you know what happens when you close submissions for an extended period? It kills the the site. No one new is putting up your recip and many of your past submitters pull your recip, even off of sites you you've already listed. *And I don't blame them.

I was thinking the same exact thing. I can't think of any good reason really to close submits, but hey that's just me.

Apparently, some don't mind closing submits for more then a year |pokefun| http://www.squirrel-nuts.com/porn-li...ddlink&catid=1

UW is absolutely right...it's sure death to a link site to close submits for a prolonged period of time. Or at the very least, it'll put the site into a coma for a long while after submissions reopen.

Yea, the squirrel has done that a couple times :(

Also, some sites are well worth waiting for the listing. It's a nice fresh infusion of traffic months (to a more than a year at one good site I know)...but it sure is nice to see that traffic spike on a long forgotten free site |thumb

$20... and a pitcher of beer!

If getting behind and closing submits becomes a regular thing, then maybe it's time to consider selling the site. |huh
