Happy Saturday Morning

Morning
Yesterday, we had 2 fruit trucks pull up outside by surprise. They were packed with Games, Ipods, Toys, Clothes and believe it or not, a dozen Nintendo Wiis and a dozen Sonly PSP3s. The local boyscouts decided to help us with my wife's charity without letting us know :)

After unloading, the boyscouts all stood in the rain and sang Christmas Carols. All our neighbors came out wondering what was going on. They had no idea about "Gifts for Teens". :)

So, with the help of the boyscouts, all the gifts have either been purchased or donated. All that is left now is wrapping over 600 gifts :) We are starting that today with a couple of volunteers. They are some of the parents of the boyscouts. It seems that last year, we gave gifts to a couple of the scouts older brothers and sisters and at a few meetings ago, they voted to help us.

I should have just said I was taking the month before Christmas off but I am hoping that today will be the only wrapping day and then nothing until the week of Christmas when we deliver :)

Ramster 2006-12-02 07:35 AM

Good Morning...that's it. :)

Jim
Very cool!!!

digifan 2006-12-02 07:39 AM

That's great Jim... except the wrapping lol :)

Jim 2006-12-02 07:46 AM

It was and is cool Ramster. Nothing feels as good as this thing my wife does. This is the first year since the first year that we had help. The scouts even offered to help us do the deliveries the week of Christmas.

I really wish you guys all lived near us. If you feel blah or blue about Christmas, this snaps you out of it.

I tried to get my wife to let me sell the Wiis and the PSP3s on Ebay but she came back with a quick "NO". I thought we could sell them and then turn that money into more gifts but I think we have enough now.

At least now I know why Kmart only had 1 Wii for sale. They had the rest put aside to donate to us :)

Good Morning All :) Very cool Jim :)

Good morning everyone. That's truly a wonderful thing your wife does for the (most often) forgotten teens Jim. |santa|

Morning all -
Coolness Jim!!

We got about 3" of super light powder snow overnight! Finally!!
Now I need to find the shovel.. lol
It looks so nice the first snowfall, but by March, I'm sure I won't be liking it.

Have a great weekend!

Cleo 2006-12-02 09:37 AM

No boyscouts here. I guess this town is too gay for them.

Went to a local strip club with my neighbor and we closed the club. After the music ended and all the lights were turned on some guys got into a fist fight. The fight was entertaining, more so then the nekkid chicks to some extent.

Doing the gym thing this morning and then not really a clue what I'm doing the rest of the day.

Linkster 2006-12-02 09:43 AM

Good morning - updates and uploads all day :) Hvae fun!

Toby 2006-12-02 09:50 AM

Mornin' y'all,

Jim, what a great story. I love small towns. |santa|

Not much on the agenda here today other than a nap sometime this afternoon so I can stay awake to watch the alma mater play at Hawaii on ESPN later, 11:00 PM kickoff CST. |priesthol |touchdown

|coffee is on, help yourself

Good morning world |waves|

Damn, Jim, I actually feel uplifted after reading your post this morning. Not that I was feeling down or anything, hard to be down with the beatiful 80-85 degree weekend here. But I'd been trying to think of a way around that Paypal thing and then read your post and was glad to see that you'd gotten so much (unexpected) local support. I didn't want to see you have to make up the difference yourself ('cause you would have), and now it really sounds like you won't have to do much but keep on wrapping. :)

Cleo, it's the same down here. If you want to find someone in a Boy Scout uniform you'd have to go to a gay strip club and look on stage.

An excellent weekend to all.

:)

Maybe this has something to do with it.

Good Saturday Everyone |waves|

I was up working til 3, tried to fall asleep until 4 or 4:30 but the |hurricane kept me awake (30-40 mph winds last night)

I'm awake because The Bitch went to Canada Bingo last night. They had some gift certificates for free games that were in Canadian funds. Her friend won $500 on one of these, which means she gets paid in Canadian funds. They didn't have enough cash, so she got a check for part of it. The Bitch gets home at 1:30. Her friend calls here at 8:30 to inform her that the bank won't cash her Canadian check |banghead| |club| |angry| |catfight| SOME PEOPLE DO FUCKING SLEEP IN ON THE WEEKEND! |badidea| |cry| |crazy|

So I'm awake & I think I'm going to skip the birthday party that I'm supposed to go to today so that I can put a dent in this big pile of crap I call "work"

Bills game tomorrow |thumb

|yawn| Morning..

Jim-that is a great story--not that i'm fond of the policies of the boy scouts overall but I know individual troops do try to teach tolerance. So it's nice to see them step up. hmmm the wrapping on the other hand.. |cry|

Warmed up from high 30's to 61 yesterday.. no wonder i have a cold.

Opened our store on the strip yesterday..as of 5pm we'd done almost 500.00 so i'll be interested to see how we did in the evening since that is supposed to be the "busy" time. :D

Off to the rat race.. Have a |headbang| rocking good day today.. and __attention Newbies-- Go to OTB. Stop making a farking post for every little tiny thing.. just attend OTB and you'll get ALL the answers. MML is the messenger of |buddy|

MrYum 2006-12-02 10:29 AM

Gooood mornin all!

That's awesome news Jim...very cool |thumb

Beautiful day here...so not sure if I will, but 'should' get some work done :D

Have a great day everyone!

jenni 2006-12-02 10:53 AM

Good morning to everyone!

Very cool Jim - good luck with all the wrapping. I find that drinking eggnog with brandy helps make the wrapping seem more fun ;)

"Canada Bingo" I don't get it - I could see us here in Canada doing USA Bingo since when we convert the US money to Canadian we actually get a little more (used to be a lot more), but why would you want to get Canadian money and then lose a little when you convert it to US??

Although I guess winning money, no matter what the currency is always a good thing :)

Morning All! Jim, that is a very cool thing! Nice of the boyscouts to help out like that. :)

Today I have to get an order wrapped up then go work out. Joined Curves right before Thanksgiving, and have been really getting into working out regularily again. I had to skip yesterday, overdid the leg extensions on Thursday and crippled up my knees a bit. Feeling better now, and anxious to work out today. |thumb

After that, I have to get some link trades up that I spaced. Sorry Mateusz, I have been |loony| lately.

sue-fl 2006-12-02 12:12 PM

Morning!

That is a great story Jim! I applaud you and your wife for thinking of the teens at Christmas. So many buy for the little ones and the teens get left out. If I lived near you I'd gladly help your wrap for such a worthy cause. You are going to make so many teens happy this year that has to feel good! You are fine people in my eyes|thumb

Have a great day all!

terry 2006-12-02 02:35 PM

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Awesome stuff Jim, way to go!

Have a great day all!

JustRobert 2006-12-02 02:57 PM

A very big |thumb to you and your wife. I enjoy reading these stories it helps set the mood this time of year, which I truly love. Do not care for the shopping part but just love the feeling during this month. If I lived within a three hour drive I would gladly volunteer my poor wrapping skills to help out.

My wife and I usually get involved with adopting a family or two thru my old job plus make donations in our families names to make-a-wish, toys for tots, etc...

I recommend this to others. It is the best feeling! :)
