Porn Supression in Google mentioned in a BoingBoing article
They're not talking very coherently about it, but it's interesting to see a bunch of the better known sex information writers are complaining that they've been dumped from the serps.
Don't read this looking for intellifgent commentary - it's just interesting to see the effect make the news in a big(ish) blog like boingboing http://www.boingboing.net/2006/12/27...ppears_se.html "Google "disappears" sex blogs? Something's broken. A number of bloggers who cover topics related to human sexuality say they've suddenly disappeared (or at least been deeply demoted) in Google search results. Popular "indie" blogs that deal with nonfiction sex ed or indie alt-erotica fare (Tiny Nibbles, Comstock Films, ErosBlog, and others) have suddenly vanished to much lower ranking in relevant search results -- even when you have Google's adult filter turned off. And in practical effect, being buried is just as bad as being filtered out entirely. The apparent drop appears to coincide with changes Google recently made to their keyword ad program, AdSense. But here's what's so crazy: now, when you search for the missing indie sexblogs, the top results are icky porn spam blogs (aka "porn splogs")." |

I have a mainstream website that has ranked very well with Google for a couple of years. Changes and additions to it are picked up by Google very quickly. I have an adult site just slightly newer than my mainstream site that I have SEO'd the same way as the mainstream one. Yet, my adult site doesn't show up nearly as well as the mainstream site. In fact, it's almost invisible on Google. And, additions or changes to the site don't get picked up as quickly. Is this just my paranoid imagination?... has anyone else noticed anything like this?

I do have to say this month my SE traffic has been sliding back up and more so within the last week. Not quite where it was before the big drop a few months back, but I'm not complaining, it's getting close. Have they maybe rolled back that big change? |
