Thumbnail Images From Video

Can anyone give me the 411 on making quality thumbs from video clips? And what software do you use?
thanks :)

I'm using FrameShots to capture thumbs from clips :)

When I got my new 'puter a while back it came with Windows Movie Maker which lets me grab pics from any frame in a clip. It came with whatever Windows I have. I think it's Windows XP Pro or something like that.

Thanks for the fast answers. :) I downloaded frame shots and tried it. Way to easy to use. I'm waiting for the unlock code now.

The most advanced and easiest tool for this and many other things is http://www.videocharge.com take the 30 days free trial (use the professional or full version)

Thumbs Plus will do that (you do have to trick the version I have into thinking that wmv files are avi's, but mpgs work perfectly)

Video charge here too.

Which version does a free site builder/gallery maker need. Professional, Express or Basic?

I have the professional, but I didn't really look at the others, so I honestly couldn't tell ya.
It's like 80.00 if ya live in MN you get taxed. So that's what 3 or 4 sales?
I normally take the mpegs and convert them to wmv's which are smaller, then make the thumbs.
Never actually timed it, but I'm guessing 8-10 mpgs converted and thumbs in about 7-10 minutes.

Then I will try the Pro version. Thanks, Dare

We capture the thumbnails and screen-shoots during production before mpeg or wmv compression - Vegas 6 does a fine job from the time-line. We then archive these with the video and store them in the database. We can then select the thumbnails we want to use directly from the database and display them on the page.

Does anyone know how to select a frame of an clip and take the screenshot with videocharge? I want to do this for just ONE clip...I looked through the software and couldn't figure out how to do it. The first 4 frames of this video are black. I need to get to something more enticing. I tried the videocharge forum but help there.

VLC Player does screen capture, its free as well. Just makes ure you click on de-interlace > blend first and you are ready to rock
