Duplicates
hi guys
I am wondering what duplicates do to SEO, I see that some of my oldest free sites have PR2 and 1 even PR3, but that is the ones I made before I started submitting to 80 LL's, the sites that have PR were only submitted to 12 or 16 sites, and hence they only needed 1 recip table. They also still get a bit of search engine traffic, more than the sites I submit to 80 LL's anyway. So, I am wondering how to work around this, if I have several domains, could I host on different domains and get seo to maybe all of the copies there? The downside to that would be that I need to upload the content to all the domains and that would be a lot of extra space used! Or what can be done? |
When I have the time, I make changes to the text on the page for my mirrors. If you can say the same thing, but use different words to say it, then its unique text. |thumb

I mirror across 4 domains and change the keywords. Sometimes the main text of the page too. That way each list gets a "real" index page and the sites are somewhat unique to the se's. It really does not take that much time to do either. :)

Layouts, styles etc will not really hurt you...what will is the duplicate content if the majority of it is identical to another. What happens is that the bots will give credit to the first one that had it and you will lose any efforts on the ones that do have duplicates with. It's also good practice to make sure your sites code is valid (among other things -- a list that would be big if I typed it all here).
The bots will find you no matter where you hide duplicates...lol |couch| |
If you host several domains on the same server, you could upload all the mirrors to one domain in a certain directory, then setup all the other domains on that server to serve pages from main-domain.tld/certain-directory/
This way you won't waste any space. |

seems to me the bots wouldn't be fooled by that, but it also sounds good for saving the HDD space when uploading site on different domains. I'd like to hear some more thoughts on this matter... |
You cannot tell from the "client side" if that happens. And as far as I know, is not breaking any rule. ( I've been doing it in mainstream for 2 years, it's usefull for localized domains ).
Hearing another oppinions on this will sure be constructive. |
