Need a tool to make headers
 

I used to have a tool that would let me make .gif headers with all kinds of neat things to do with fonts. I don't have it anymore (and can't remember the name) and was wondering what free tool others might be using.

Well, I just remembered the name of what I had, Gimp. Was a neat tool but I just downloaded it and at the installation was told I needed something else. I got that and was told my Bios is set for threading or not threading or some crap and to disable it. No fukkin way I'm gonna mess with Bios. Oh well...the search continues...

The trial of PaintShopPro that came on my computer has expired. |bullshit| I got an older version of Gimp that seems to work but I have a little problem. Anyone familiar with Gimp?

Gimp is an open source graphics editor inspired by the insanely over-priced Adobe Photoshop. It's very popular in the *nix community. I've seen people say that if you have Gimp, there's no reason to spend your life savings on Photoshop, so I assume it's pretty decent.

Gimp is actually very decent and does a few things that Photoshop doesn't do. It has some very kewl filters built-in and you can download more. On a Mac it is very easy to install with just a few clicks of the mouse and runs in the Mac's X11 environment.

But I still use Photoshop/Imageready all the time. Mostly because this is what I've been using for the past 15 years so I really know the program plus I prefer its Mac interface over Gimp's *nix interface. It also does some things that Gimp doesn't do.

The Gimp is a man they keep dressed from head to toe in black leather bondage gear. There are zippers, buckles and studs here and there on the body. On his head is a black leather mask with two eye holes and a zipper (closed) for a mouth. They keep him in a hole in the floor big enough for a large dog.

To keep on-topic, I like Photoshop/ImageReady myself (plus, it's what the gimp knows best).

Well, I got a version of Gimp that works on my 'puter without going into BIOS so I'm happy. One problem. I want a gradient text, where the color gradually changes from the top of the text to the bottom, but when I go to add the gradient to the text, the text disappears and I have the two colors, foreground and background, with the gradient, but the text is gone! |confused| Tom at Tom's Newbie Booster had a tutorial which I followed to the letter but I'm still lost. I think I'll get drunk and forget about it for a day.
