I suggest you stick to a single blog. This will enure you focus your energy and update it more often than if you had many blogs. You can also take advantage of the category feature to build sub-niches. You can tweak the blog template to show the category description when selecting a category. You can also trade links a the category level. Not many people do that though. Overall, a single blog will be more lively, bring in more regular visitors and it will also be indexed more often because of the regular updates.

I think one sponsor per post is what most agreement will state. The home page of your blog will have entries to those pages and therefore the home page will carry many sponsors and I've never had a problem with that.

Link trades are best manage with a software. It will provide ou with a regular report regarding the status of your link trades. Most of the time you would require to integrate the link trade template withinn the blog template. Maybe there's a script I didn't Google on it.

Need for what? Blogging is a test of patience. In my opinion, it's best to stick with a single blog while your learning about blogging. Then once you've learned a bit you can expand and easily determine how many blogs you can handle and still take care of.

As many or as few as you'd like. Remember the more sponsors you use on a blog, the more diluted your sales will be meaning it will take longer to actually get a check. On the other hand, you want to use enough to keep things interesting for both yourself and your surfers. On a niche blog, I use between 4 and 5

You don't NEED software or a plug-in for link trades. Most blogging scripts I've seen have some type of link management built in.

I use a script for link trades. My point is that with one of two blogs, it's not very time consuming to check your trades manually once a week or so.

I've actually found that when I was doing trades manually I had less of an issue with people removing trades than I do now with the script. I suspect it is due to the fact that you trade PM's or e-mails or actually post on a board so it's not an anonymous thing. Where as with the trade script, there is less of a personal involvement.
